I have a few on Blu-ray and DVD.
The Evil Dead - The DVD is the Anchor Bay Book of the Dead edition that includes Bruce Campbell's Fanalysis documentary. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull - The DVD has an entire second disc of bonus features that were left off the Blu-ray edition, I think even the newest one. Blade Runner - The DVD is the Ultimate Collector's Edition in the briefcase, which I originally got in 2007 and was such a cool set that I don't want to get rid of it. Only duplicates on Blu-ray are Batman: Mask of the Phantasm and Batman: SubZero, because they were included with the animated series complete collection after I'd already bought the initial WAC releases. |

Blu-ray Samurai

I probably max out at 8 or 9 versions of a particular movie. That's not every movie I own but probably just on my top favorites. Starting with VHS to Dvd, remastered dvd, Blu-ray or 2/4k remastered blu-ray. I might own different region coded versions of those movies too. Only a couple of titles in UHD but I don't own a UHD player; the UHD titles I own come with a blu-ray. But, I would say that most movies I own I have at least two versions of. It's rare that I only own one version of a movie.

Try to avoid having too many duplicates in my collection, but quite often I have two or three different editions of a certain movie. I think the most editions of a single movie would be John Carpenters The Thing, which I have in six different editions: SF Collectors Edition with Slip signed by John Carpenter, SF Steelbook, Arrow Video Limited Edition, Arrow Video Steelbook, Turbine Limited Edition Box Set and HMVs VHS BD Edition. Don’t think, I have any movie more than six times in my collection. Maybe Terminator 2; I kind of think I should have T2 in more editions than The Thing, but I can currently only remember five different editions…

I generally trade in old editions when I get new-fangled better ones- not really concerned with fancy packaging and the like. That said, in a lot of cases, UHD cover art is TERRIBLE and/or UHD's are missing essential extras, so I've kept my older editions of Jaws, Close Encounters, Evil Dead II, Alien, Evil Dead, Lord Of the Rings, The Hobbit and King Kong.

I enjoy customizing my Blu-ray editions. I hardly ever end up with duplicates. I’ll only hold on to an older edition if there’s something that makes it worth keeping: exclusive extras, remaster, and/or steelbook packaging (or something similar).
I’ll have 3D/4K/Blu-ray discs for one release but I don’t consider that as being the same. Each disc has a different purpose. |

I don't have duplicates of the same movies because I think it's foolish, and a waste of money. Now what would I look like having four, five copies of The Lord of the Rings, The Exorcist, Donnie Darko, The Blade Runner, Jaws etc? I work too hard for my money to throw it away like that!
