They also list A Quiet Place as a Drama, Horror, Sci-Fi, and completely omit the Suspense/Thriller component which is more prominent than the Horror one. Rotten Tomatoes does the same with A Simple Favor and they list Mandy as an Action & Adventure, Mystery & Suspense. Mandy is certainly not an Adventure film, is hardly a Mystery, and they completely omit the Horror component. Blu-ray.com completely omits the Mystery component of Wind River and instead they have Action at the top. So... again, not saying you or anyone has to agree with me or with those but going by these websites they definitely seem subjective and certainly not always accurate.

i already said people can watch whatever they want and that i dont care.... was just pointing out that jurassic being a horror/halloween was a stretch and kind of funny. i think youd be hard pressed to find many, if any, who think otherwise.

ironic that it seems that the people annoyed are not the "horror police" but rather people mad AT the "horror police" lol

just talking... still a few weeks out until people really start the horror-thon anyway... relax

We may never solve the "Is it horror or not?" battle but we all agree that movies like Predator, Godzilla, King Kong and Jurassic Park are monster movies and monster movies are perfectly acceptable for this marathon...

12. RAMPAGE
So here's my latest favorite monster movie. I couldn't believe how much I liked this and watched every minute of it from start to finish without getting up. It's just a popcorn movie, lots of action and explosions and special effects and a great job done on the monster designs and most importantly it's just fun. The Rock's movies are ok but I rarely like them enough to watch more than once. Rampage is a major exception as I'm now watching this for the third time.

I haven’t been watching and it wasn’t on my radar. I’ll check out the first episode on demand to see if I like it.

Default Full of Tears and Full of Dread

”That day of wrath, that dreadful day,
shall heaven and earth in ashes lay,
as David and the Sybil say."

Day of Wrath [1943; Re-watch (2001 Criterion DVD)]

Rating:

Analysis: Director Carl Dreyer’s masterful adaptation of a well-known and semi-historical play (Anne Pedersdotter), Day of Wrath is a slow burn of religion, morality and sexual repression, deftly wrapped in a cloak of witchcraft. The deliberate pace provides plenty of time to ruminate on interpretation (some conclude a parable of wartime collaboration), however it only requires one scene to appreciate the smoldering screen presence of actress Lisbeth Movin and the cinematic power of her ‘pure and clear’ eyes, foreshadowing Anna Taylor-Joy in The Witch.

Caught this at a Dolby Cinema and picked up the UHD at lunch; JW:FK really does have some terrific horror elements in the second half.

9/17 The Predator (2018)

It's a wild, fun movie with plenty of carnage and the right amount of comedy.

I've seen all of The Purge films and plan to watch the series at some time but not during the Halloween season.

I haven't been watching the series, nor have I seen the films. But always meant to check out the first film.
I already have my Halloween flicks picked for the most part so I doubt I'll see the Purge in October. Maybe afterwards!

Crimson Peak (2015)*

Beautiful cinematography! This was pure joy to look at, but the story was cliche ridden, predictable, and a slog to get through. Visually stunning, but little else to recommend here.

I've seen all the movies, but I haven't checked out the series yet. I usually wait until the whole season is done so that I can marathon it in one sitting. I feel like I'm more curious because I haven't heard much either away about it. I will wind up checking it out at some point, but I'm not in a rush.

I have been adding to the DVR in hopes of a marathon closer to Halloween.
