If 88 gets a chance to revisit the Lo Wei titles for the USA (assuming the rights are there), this transfer definetly needs improving! Is there a raw scan without the colour grading and NR?

Note also the current "restoration" is missing a day-for-night filter - https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?go=1&...127029&i=7&l=0

If they do go back to the first titles again I hope they get a re-release in the UK too. Even if they are just limited runs on 88’s own website if they are worried the re-releases might cause confusion.

At least make the US releases region B compatible if they still own the rights here so we have the option to import if not, don’t deprive the UK of the Kung Fu Bob artwork! (And better transfers I guess).

that first run of titles should all be re-done like how they are done now. They would certainly get snatched up given how well his titles have been doing for them.

A great and easy start would be fixing the SDH subs on Snake & Crane. I'd buy it again if that was the only difference.

It’s been eight months so I thought I’d wish again for a redo of the first four 88 Jackie releases.

If they are diving into the depths of his catalogue, they should just go back to the beginning. I would be first in line for those 4, just to complete the collection

TO KILL WITH INTRIGUE isn’t too bad, I can live with that one, but the transfers of SNAKE AND CRANE ARTS OF SHAOLIN and especially DRAGON FIST and my poor beloved BATTLE CREEK BRAWL (first time I ever saw Jackie in anything, on cable circa 1984 when I was a lad of around fifteen) were terrible when they came out and now look even worse next to the string of flawless vintage Jackie transfers that followed. I mean, yes, they’re a lot better than their previous abominable VHS incarnations, but that’s a bar so low a worm would trip over it. 88 has really stepped up their game, and I dearly hope they see fit to revisit at least those latter three, as they are all worthy films that deserve better.

Well, if it does come out again, an English-language theatrical trailer could be added this time (got it on 16 mm).

If they were to be re-released then I'd hope for a boxset at a discount price as while there are issues with how they look, I'm happy enough with them that paying £15+ for a visual upgrade isn't all that appealing.

An early Chan boxset with those 4 for £25 or so would be pretty decent, if they could add in a few of his other films not yet on Blu and do something like the Joseph Kuo set then it would certainly sting less and justify a higher price.

Boxsets tend to be controversial, so they’re best avoided in my opinion.

I think that the only controversial aspect of any of the martial arts boxset was the Arrow Shaws Bros release and that was all due to the packaging. Most people, well most martial arts fans and the people who generally buy these titled have no issue with boxsets, the Joseph Kuo boxset being a recent example of a boxset that people have really liked.

Also the inclusion of 'Mighty Peking Man' (which I didn't mind, incidentally).

For me, they're bulky things, and it looks unkempt if you don't have rights to everything in a series (or something else comes out after it).

I just think it's safer to have individual releases.

If people don't want a boxset then they can wait for the individual releases. I'd much rather a decently priced boxset of 4 or 8 or more films with similar themes or from the same studio or actor/director than individual releasess as we've seen with the Arrow Shaw Bros set.

I don't see how a box set like say the Kuo one from Eureka is any bulkier than individual releases, if anything it takes up a hell of lot less space than 8 individual releases.

Clearly most people want boxsets and they sell well or else labels wouldn't bother with them. It's like people complaining about The recent Hung double bill from Eureka not being 2 individual releases. Both films go well together and at the price are a bargain and I'd bet sold better than had they done a separate relase for each

Well put. I love both the Shawscope set and the Kuo set, and the Gamera box too for that matter. As for individual releases being safer, the box sets don’t seem to be having any trouble selling, so that doesn’t compute. Can’t wait for Shawscope Vol. 2! (But I certainly don’t discriminate against individual releases either!)

Yeah, these four were in the "early days" when only a few of us were assisting... I was not one of them yet, lol. Aside from wishing for new masters, there's other aspects I'd love to work on for these (additional audio tracks, trailers, etc), but only time will tell, I suppose.

Oh man, that would be so great. Yeah, these need the Brandonator touch. And Kung Fu Bob artwork. How sublime that would be.
