I agree that's frustrating. But note your save can be imported. So if you want, you can take a 2 month break and start where you left off when this releases.

I wouldnt recommend that as it would kill the momentum that he has going. The twist would also have less impact if you aren't playing it back to back

An hour later and still hasn’t sold out, and you get more bang for your buck this time around compared to the Firefly edition. That $10 upgrade really got others going that route instead.

Yeah I was surprised to see it still up as well. Would have gotten one if I was able to snag the first FF edition but that was an epic cluster****. I'll be fine with the $10 upgrade.

Had a look at digital edition PS5.

I own the digital edition PS4.

Pre-order is $64.99 here. (Probably $49.99 US)

So….

Is this $10 US upgrade only gonna be available once the game launches on January 19th… Digital?

btw, 0 mentions of any upgrade path in the PS Store on Consoles description of game.

Yeah, I'm ploughing on lads.

I played the TLOU1 PS5 version, first time I've played the game since 2013, and then straight onto my first playthrough of 2. Treating it as one big game, and I have to say, the experience has probably been one of my favourite gaming moments

I'm going to have to try hard to get the WLF edition pre-ordered on Tuesday. It's playstation direct only but no time frame has been given. Hopefully they will make more copies this time after tbhe firefly edition for Part I sold out in what like an hour? I'd much rather get this on the website for probably $100 then on ebay for $300.

FYI. If you're worried about cost and don't have a copy you own, you can get a used copy of the game for $25 on ebay. Then it's $10 to upgrade. If you don't want to mess with physical you can buy it digital for $40. So the maximum price for this is $50, not $70 like Part I remake. And it might be even cheaper to buy the remaster outright.

The WLF edition is confirmed to contain a disc with the game on it. (No word yet whether it has all the new stuff like the additional levels, or just the main game.) This was good for Sony to confirm, since the European firefly edition for part I did NOT have a physical game included. No word yet if there will be a physical version of the game other than the WLF edition.

Sony confirmed that trophies will pop automatically so it';s an auto play if you already platted it. Unclear yet if there will be additional "DLC" trophies, like for the extra levels or playing with a different character, etc.

According to Naughty Dog, the WLF edition goes live at 10 AM eastern tomorrow. Here are the all the times:

US West Coast - 7am PST
US East Coast - 10am EST
UK - 10am GMT
Portugal - 10am WET
Germany, France, Benelux, Italy, Spain, Austria - 10am CET

For USA, this is supposedly the link to use once they are up:

Here's the link to their X post: https://twitter.com/Naughty_Dog/stat...20663923367953

Good luck!

Wasn’t it the remaster of the first game where they sent out copies that got damaged and didn’t have any on hand for replacements?

It was. For myself and my friend who got one, they literally shipped each of ours in a bubble mailer. His even got glue from the adhesive on the side. Somehow, mine came in great condition. I'm hoping that after the issues with the Firefly edition, they'll ship them differently this time, but I wouldn't be surprised if they do the same thing either.

I just got the WLF edition. No issues or slow checkout or anything. It's $100.

There's a physical edition of the standard and it is $50. (So the same as the PS4 price + $10.)

I checked back later in the evening and the WLF edition was sold out then, not sure exactly when it sold out but it lasted a few hours I guess. Hopefully most fans who wanted one got it because they're on Ebay for $200-$220 now.

So glad I secured my copy, now I have no doubt I will be playing this on launch day. I will take vacation for it.

I fear it's all the new stuff like no return and the lost levels. All they confirmed is the disc has the game on it. Definitely hoping I'm wrong and all the stuff we've been told about is actually on the disc. But yeah I don't think we've heard any details about what this is.

Gotta say, I'm interested in the No Return mode.

I'll also give the story a second chance... wasn't huge on it the first time I played, but maybe that will be different with the passage of time and a lack of heated discourse on the game, lol.
Yeah the story is really good. Now that you know everything that happens you can just enjoy it for what it is and don't have to be shocked or disappointed that they went there. I've replayed it a few times since launch year and I think the story is strong and also easier to enjoy when you've had some distance from all the shock value.

There's also new textures and I believe increased foliage and such so it should still show improvements if you go with performance mode (which I will be doing). Of course if you go 30 fps it's native 4K for the first time and there are even more graphical improvements.

Also yeah you can't go through the upgrade path yet. Not sure when that will happen but probably at or near release.

The Last of Us Online has been officially cancelled

https://www.naughtydog.com/blog/an_u...t_of_us_online

Quote:
We realize many of you have been anticipating news around the project that we’ve been calling The Last of Us Online. There’s no easy way to say this: We’ve made the incredibly difficult decision to stop development on that game.

We know this news will be tough for many, especially our dedicated The Last of Us Factions community, who have been following our multiplayer ambitions ardently. We’re equally crushed at the studio as we were looking forward to putting it in your hands. We wanted to share with you some background of how we came to this decision.

The multiplayer team has been in pre-production with this game since we were working on The Last of Us Part II – crafting an experience we felt was unique and had tremendous potential. As the multiplayer team iterated on their concept for The Last of Us Online during this time, their vision crystalized, the gameplay got more refined and satisfying, and we were enthusiastic about the direction in which we were headed.

In ramping up to full production, the massive scope of our ambition became clear. To release and support The Last of Us Online we’d have to put all our studio resources behind supporting post launch content for years to come, severely impacting development on future single-player games. So, we had two paths in front of us: become a solely live service games studio or continue to focus on single-player narrative games that have defined Naughty Dog’s heritage.

We are immensely proud of everyone at the studio that touched this project. The learnings and investments in technology from this game will carry into how we develop our projects and will be invaluable in the direction we are headed as a studio. We have more than one ambitious, brand new single player game that we're working on here at Naughty Dog, and we cannot wait to share more about what comes next when we’re ready.

Until then, we’re incredibly thankful to our community for your support throughout the years.

I'm surprised they didn't just outsource it to another studio.

I wouldn't have played unless there was a story element, I'm not big on multiplayer anymore. Sucks for those looking forward to it. I wonder why this would be so much more complicated to support post launch than just Factions. There's no rule that they have to keep adding stuff for years if they want to focus on other stuff.
