I always call it The Road Warrior or Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior. Never just Mad Max 2.

So how will the digital copies with this set go then since Mad Max was originally released by MGM and is not part of MA? The 3 other movies are all MA.

Not a guarantee, as WB will likely be authoring their own disc since they have international rights. They don't have to use the Kino disc, only license the rights for their box set release to publish in the US. And if WB is only doing HDR10 for the sequels they're likely only doing HDR10 for their release of the first film.

Who says they're not doing their own disc with DV? The DV logo keeps popping up on the anthology box art, yet the standalones of MM2 and Thunderdome don't seem to have it, and nor does Fury Road as we know.

So it seems likely that Warners have done their edition of the first movie with DV so they're not shown up by some dinky little indie label, but have said "hell with the rest of them". It's a shame too because Fury Road with a DV metadata pass would be perfick for such a crazy light show of an HDR grade.

And they're not worried about charges of inconsistency like other studios do, e.g. Disnee doing the opposite and actually removing DV from Last Jedi for the UHD re-release to be the same as the other Star Wars UHDs, I mean look at Warners' Kubrick releases. 2001 has DV and OG audio, Shining has DV but no OG audio, and FMJ and now Clockwork have HDR10 with OG audio.

I honestly think Warners just flip a coin.

Just got a notice that this (along with the two separate MM 4Ks) has been delayed to November 16th.

Does anybody know if the blu rays will be included in this set? Don’t understand why they would not include them.

From what I'm reading, looks like the set does not include Blu-rays but the individual movies do.

I did a quick A-B of MMFR disc (HDR10) Vs. MMFR iTunes (DV) on my ZD9. Can clearly see a bit more details on highlights, slightly better colour and slightly better blacks.

Are the standalones in any country going to have slips? Im so torn as I have Kino MM which has a gorgeous slip and these are so Fury Road-esque but there is no way Im buying the whole box set (he said as he was lying his ass off) just for the two films.

That's a pity as usually I prefer the 35mm original audio, but looks like both Mad Max 2 and Beyond Thunderdome were shown in 70mm with six-track stereo. So one would hope that the 5.1 tracks on the UHDs will be representative of those original 70mm mixes and not something new and remixed/downmixed.

Unless Warners have re-eq’d them like some of their other recent UHDs with 5.1 tracks as the main audio.
