Included as a bonus film on a new Renown Pictures DVD release of mid-sixties British film The Leather Boys, is a documentary filmed by Talking Pictures TV called Rita Tushingham and the Leather Boys Back at the Ace Cafe (read about it on any or some of the following: Renown Pictures website and newsletter, Talking Pictures TV's Facebook page and newsletter). On a separate note, I am thinking of splitting future posts about some of the programmes and films being shown on TPTV in the coming week in two parts, as the last two posts I did gave me bad eye strain afterwards. Not sure if they're worth doing. Last edited by OceanBlue; 06-23-2023 at 11:54 PM. Reason: Corrected order of comments etc. in post. |

If it's because of the next TPTV Festival coming soon (next month), I'm not surprised by this. After checking the TV Schedule section on TPTV's website recently, I noticed that the synopses for three editions of The Footage Detectives airing in July looked familiar. I'd say they're repeats (airing on Sunday 9th, 16th and 23rd July respectively).
Next Sunday's (2nd July) new edition of The Footage Detectives will include an interview with Jamie Anderson (son of Gerry Anderson) about Fireball XL5. TPTV have said in their weekly newsletters sent out on Sundays recently that new (to the channel) episodes of Crown Court will be airing on the channel later this year. Recently, they've gone back to the beginning of the show. Also getting a repeat run on the channel is In Suspicious Circumstances. I'm assuming that once they've repeated the edition from the mid-nineties which has the desertion theme, they'll start showing new (to TPTV) episodes. However, I'm sure I read on TPTV's Facebook page a few weeks ago that there are some episodes which are lost. So if like me, you're a fan of Edward Woodward and ISC, make the most of the new (to TPTV) episodes. Wish the surviving episodes could get a physical media release. I've also noticed that the channel has been showing Laurel and Hardy shorts, scattered through the TPTV schedules. Am assuming that new editions of The Heritage Chart Show with Mike Read have been airing in the early hours of Monday mornings recently, and that new editions are premiering in the coming weeks on TPTV. ***** There are other films, TV series and film shorts which have been getting repeat airings on TPTV. Hopefully others can help and post about these repeat airings. ![]() Last edited by OceanBlue; 06-28-2023 at 01:28 AM. Reason: Corrected typo in post. |

A new week has been added to the TV Schedule section on TPTV's website this week, going up to just before the end of July, and based on the synopsis, the Sunday 30th July edition of The Footage Detectives is a repeat. This coming Sunday's edition will be the last new edition for at least five weeks.
I'm hoping Renown Pictures will release a second DVD volume of The Footage Detectives during the remainder of this year. |

This past Sunday afternoon's new edition of The Footage Detectives (the last in the current, third series) had to me a strange feel to it, knowing that it would be the last new edition until (based on what was said just before the end of the edition) sometime in September (Mike, Noel and co having a summer holiday (although the next TPTV Festival takes place this month). The best part for me (the insight into Fireball XL5 (the interview with Gerry Anderson's son Jamie) aside) was the viewer's letter about the back projection and it still running, followed by one of the actors saying to get out of the car (it had me in stitches).
I keep up to speed with what is being shown on TPTV and anything being released by Renown Pictures (the weekly TPTV Sunday email newsletter, the weekly TV listings magazine, TPTV's website (especially the TV Schedule section), and Renown Pictures's occasional newsletter and it's website). It wasn't until recently where I found out for sure that The Footage Detectives was going on a break for at least the next few weeks. Whoever is in charge of TPTV's Facebook page can be a bit sharp in their replies, sometimes stating what I/we already know and follow (the aforementioned newsletters and TV schedule information for example) when they reply to a query (in this case, whether this past Sunday's new edition was the last in the current, third series). I and at least one other person asked about this (I subsequently deleted my question and TPTV's reply). A small complaint as I'm still an avid viewer and follower of TPTV and Renown Pictures. The person in question on TPTV Facebook should be ashamed as there is no excuse for being disrespectful and caustic. I enjoyed the interview with Jamie Anderson on this weeks Footage Detectives, I never knew that about the voice of Robert the robot in Fireball XL5. I will miss Neil and Mike until September but I think I heard them mention about a ‘best of’ show until they return. I liked the joke about a ‘prize’ of a weeks holiday in a holiday camp chalet with Jess Conrad! Loved those ‘biscuits’ too. |

I thought I'd read on TPTV's Facebook page a few months ago (a TPTV reply to a question asked by a Facebook member) that the channel had shown all the editions which exist (suggesting the remaining editions in the documentary series are lost). Well, this shows that that's not the case. Although it could be that TPTV had acquired a certain amount of editions, and (like with other acquired TV series they show/have shown) they wanted to see how the show was received by viewers before deciding whether or not to acquire further editions. The series resumes a week on Friday 21st July at 6 pm - 6.30 pm with the edition "Came the Dawn" (narrated by Basil Rathbone). The next edition ("The Short Sharp Shower", narrated by Stanley Holloway) will be shown a week later (Friday 28th July) in the same timeslot. This edition ("A Trip to Europe") is being repeated on TPTV this coming Friday evening (14th July) at 6 pm - 6.30 pm. A new Renown Pictures newsletter is up on their website (the email version should follow soon), which includes a preview of films coming up soon on TPTV. Found out from it also, that a second DVD volume of The Best of the Footage Detectives is available now, containing fourteen selected editions. I'll eventually get round to posting about it in the Renown thread in DVD Movies, but as this thread is where The Footage Detectives is discussed, it was worth also posting about it in here.

I've got two recommendations for films if anyone’s interested..
First off is a 1948 film called Noose - about black market racketeers and a female reporter who is determined to bring them to justice after a women is murdered. Carole Landis in possibly her last film before commiting suicide at the age of 29. You think Walker from Dad's Army played the ultimate spiv, wait until you see Nigel Patrick as Bar Gorman. Second is the 1953 film Recoil which is about a jewellers daughter who wants revenge on the gang that killed her father in a robbery. Both are pretty good. |

Those are some of the other very funny, recurring jokes among the regular banter between Mike and Noel (the Jess Conrad jokes and the biscuits etc.). I have forgot to look out for on The Saint the travelling, potted plant the last couple of months. Instead, when watching the last few editions of The Footage Detectives: Series 3 my eyes have been fixated on the biscuits on the table in front of them. I did find it amusing with that plate of biscuits on the last edition (or the penultimate edition), as I fell for it, thinking they were real biscuits (they were wooden biscuits). On a side note, it's either the weekend after next or the last weekend in July, but the next TPTV Festival is coming up soon. I read in I think the latest Renown newsletter that actress Susan George is one of the guests appearing at the TPTV Festival in the autumn (actor William Gaunt is either at the next one, or the one in the autumn). |

In the next week on the channel they're showing a film called Serena (which I have seen and recommend (it was indirectly recommended on TPTV's Facebook page, one of the reasons being the film was full of details in the plot, so I thought I'd got to see the film myself), whose cast includes Honor Blackman. Out of the Fog (an alternative title of this 1962 film is Fog for a Killer) I also recommend. Along with Noose and Recoil, another film I've been meaning to watch is Police Dog. |

Yes M'Lady, its true! Some news that is just plain err F...A...B...
This might be one of the biggest scoops for the channel yet? Promo added on their YouTube channel yesterday advertising that Thunderbirds (the original) starts in September "exclusively on TPTV" (so no concurrent runs on ITV3 like happened with The Champions ?) ![]() First thing that struck me was the comparison between their other YouTube trailers which seem to get maybe 150 views in 2/3 days and the odd comment. And for this brief promo... 950 views in 12 hours, and 9 comments! With the 4 week schedule uploads on the website, we should get an idea of the date for the first episode sometime in early August. And now the most important question. Which vehicle was your favourite? Thunderbird 2 for me (something to do with the way the cargo bay opened - don't ask me why!) |
