Sorry about those two but hold onto your DVDs for the bonus features. I have Dead Ringers myself but WB own this one now.

How do you find out what rights they currently own on previously released DVD's?

I am not sure.. the ones we usually hear about are the ones that go out of print like Dead Ringers etc... but usually if they still make it avalaible on reg DVD chances are they still have the rights.

Does anyone have any more info on their case changes? It was rumored they were possibly working on a different BD case for their releases esp since the current ones are less sturdy and lower quality then the DVD versions.

I haven't come across anymore info about Criterion's plastic blu-ray cases, yet, but from the e-mail response I posted, I feel like we probably won't see it 'til late 3rd quarter 2009/4th quarter 2009. That's just the feeling I get from it.

I want 8-1/2 and Amarcord on Blu, but Criterion doesn't have any plans to put those out there at the moment. I wish they'd snatch up "La Dolce Vita" and put that puppy on Blu!

I'm thinking about whether I should get Breathless or A Woman Is A Woman. I want to try Jean-Luc Godard because Robert Pattinson said Breathless is one of his favorites =P.

Anyways, what's the likelihood that they might go to Blu/should I wait?

Edit. Also what other non-Blu movies that are unlikely to go Blu would be good for someone just getting into Criterion?

I love a Woman is a Woman, but I love Contempt just as much .... and I watch Pierrot Le Fou a lot. Also Masculin Feminin is great it is in B/W I bet the grain with that on blu would look awesome.. and of course Jean-Pierre Léaud is hot in it also.

So as a fan of musicals should I start with A Woman Is A Woman?

They said it's his most accessible.

Yeah but you have to remember Godard does some crazy stuff with music.. for instance when someone sings he may cut out the score and all you hear is a voice and back and forth it drives some people crazy... so but A Woman is a Woman is good.

As long as the music and characters are compelling I don't think I'll mind.

I'm glad to see The Seventh Seal about to be released. They need to get with the program and release The Last Temptation of Christ and Days of Heaven on Blu-ray immediately!

Not sure I would call it a musical, but... I actually liked Masculin Feminin more, so that would be my suggestion. (Of course I've not seen all that much Godard beyond these two, Breathless and 2 Or 3 Things I Know About Her, so not really an expert.)

I had to go to five places before I found it, but I did. I'll sit down and read it tomorrow; it looks great.

David Cronenberg's Shivers? I'll take that and Videodrome.

I already ordered A Woman is a Woman with the four of them that are on Blu.

Thanks for the suggestion of Masculin Feminin. It seems like Godard has a lot of good films out =o.

On that topic, who is everyone's favorite Criterion director?
