Unless you just need the 7.1 ext input - this receiver seems great! IMHO.
I think he wanted it for sending DSD audio for SACD to his receiver.

Prerich, is there a loss in audio quality if a player like an oppo converts DSD to LPCM?

hello all, what do you think?

Hi June,
I am so sorry for the shipping problem that happened last week. Unfortunately, that coupon code has expired. You were going to have received $75 off the RC-10s with the coupon in addition to the already discounted sale price of $299. If you are interested in the RC-30s which are for sale for $287 each from $549 (assuming you would like them in black), I would be happy to offer you a pair for $100 off at $474. With tax and less the $237.44 you have already paid, the total will come to $265 shipped. Please let me know if you are interested, as these are also limited in quantity. Thanks for your patience

Oh.... Ok - yeah - that is disappointing then, however - it's not a deal breaker. Which Oppo - the DV-980 can pass DSD natively through HDMI (one of the few). I think the bdp-83 converts to DSD to PCM but there is no real discernable loss in quality. If I'm not mistaken.

well I was gonna look into the Oppo 80, which I know can convert DSD to PCM and pass through HDMI, I just want to make sure there is no loss in AQ.

Well some interesting developments since my TV went out.

The wife and I was all dead set on buying a nice new TV right now. Hence put getting an EMO amp and anything else on the back burner for a long time. But I think I pulled some magic.

We ended up buying a Panasonic TC-P42C2 plasma. Yea its smaller than my previous and its 720p. But it was only $500. It is actually very nice and once I calibrate it with my X-rite it should be just fine.

Since the saving of the money I convinced my wife to let me get an EMO amp now, and we will save and get a nice big TV next year, and move this one into our BR.

only thing is I promised we will buy our new Bedroom set now instead of next year... Good compromise if you ask me.

so what to get, UPA-5 or XPA-3. I dont see upgrading these speakers anytime soon (im talking at least 3-5 years out). So what is the better choice?

im all excited now.

was on e-bay last night and saw a brand new set of energy c-100s going for $75 with eight hours to go...i fiquire i could use them as 7.1 souronds keeping my rc-10's up front. So i bid $120 just for the heck of it, and dam somebody won those for $122...

Did you have an all BIC setup before?

BIC has horns do they not? How do you like the horns vs the more laidback sound of the Energys?

hah yea man. I was leaning towards an xpa-3 anyway. I could always add a upa-2 later for surrounds.

now just got to convince for a second sub

I kinda regret getting the Sony now... I was between it and the Yammy 663 and the Pioneer 1018, and the Sony dropped like $75 for Xmas that year on amazon. and I never thought I would want to have pre-outs... that is my regret..... oh well... I will be looking for a new nicely powered receiver this spring hopefully.

You could even consider Adcom
