Probably a good thing considering Netflix are apparently hammering the 4K encodes and some are complaining of a obvious dip in quality. So people are paying for the higher res and receiving a poorer stream for their money. That really sucks Netflix.

I see the benefits of streaming. I stream content and I have a digital collection comparable to your own. I would not bother if I thought streaming was terrible. I also share my digital collection with my sequestered friends; I really enjoy being able to do that during times as depressing as these. I even outright purchased some digital titles that I thought that they would enjoy.

I hope that your downgrading of Netflix to HD is not the result of financial difficulties.

It’s probably so he doesn’t get asked to compare old 4K Netflix with the new and shittier 4K Netflix.

Maybe he is saving up to buy a 4K disc player?

Maybe he is using the savings to buy digital titles instead? Which seems more probable? It's a mystery!

No mystery, IMO I don't see a big difference from HD to 4K. I don't have anything in SD anymore in my Digital Collection because I can really tell the difference there. So from my 750 Movies in my Digital Collection about quarter of them are 4K, and I upgrade when the price is right. I just enjoy the Movies and TV Shows, and don't worry about the resolution. With my setup I don't need or want an outdated 4K player!

U.S. lawmakers urge Disney CEO to clarify Chinese government's connection to Mulan - EW 9/12/20

Quote:
A bipartisan group of U.S. lawmakers sent a letter to Disney CEO Bob Chapek on Friday, addressing renewed controversy over the studio's live-action remake of Mulan. The letter urged Chapek to clarify the Chinese government's involvement in the film's production, and the degree to which Disney was aware of reported human rights violations in regions where filming took place.
Quote:
Disney CFO Christine M. McCarthy spoke briefly about the controversy at a Bank of America conference on Thursday, explaining that Mulan shot Chinese scenery “to accurately depict some of the unique landscape and geography for this historic period drama." (Most of the film was shot in New Zealand; the footage filmed in Xinjiang apparently consists entirely of landscape shots.) McCarthy also "noted that it was common practice in Hollywood to credit government entities that allowed filming to take place," per the Times.

One commentator in the feedback said it best

Good lord. It's just a movie. It's not Disney's responsiblity to rid the world of human rights violations. If studios are expected to ensure the holiness of every single person or place connected with a movie, then none would be made.

If you don't see a big enough difference between HD streaming and 4K streaming to pay the extra $3 per month to get it on Netflix, a service that you use a lot, then why is it important to you to spend even more money upgrading titles in your digital collection to 4K?

Not even three months ago you said:

In that short time you have gone from saying that 4K streaming offered a "Fantastic" experience to now saying that you don't see much of a difference between it and HD streaming. Changing your assessment from "Fantastic" to in the span of 75 days is rather odd.

If anything is becoming outdated, it is streaming in HD when you have the option to stream in 4K.

Anyway, I'm glad that your decision to downgrade your Netflix is not due to any hardship.

It's only going to get worse. It is as if people are looking for reasons to be offended.

If there is any way that Disney can "sanitize" this movie, they will. Disney aims to appease.

I don't think it would be a good idea to attempt to do it yourself. The medical professionals performing the tests should be experienced enough to cause the least amount of discomfort. The sensation caused by the cotton bud activates the tear ducts, so to an observer it may look worse than it actually is.

We didn’t have the choice. We were given the package and told to drive to the other side of the car park. There were guys helping out, but we had to do the procedure ourselves.

So digital is ‘outstanding‘ and the quality can rival disc but you don't see a difference with HD and 4K? What a load of tosh, you have just voided most of your posts over the last few years with such a comment.

We live in a bizarre world where people somehow feel more important by having a hissy fit about random films. I think it’s a comment about those individuals low self esteem or possible mental illness.

It was a little awkward, would have preferred staff to do it. There is obviously a shortage though and I was just relieved I got it done.

Over to my sister now, she was too ill to get it done yesterday but she has a slot for today. Fingers crossed.

I work with a lad with special needs (social care) so I’m worried sick about my own family but also him and ‘his’.

I certainly would say iTunes 4K is a noticeable upgrade from iTunes hd.

I haven’t had Netflix in many years, maybe a decade. The arrogance of Qwikster and raising prices will lowering quality annoyed me. I have my neighbors password but I don’t even bother with it. (She lives alone but pays for 2 devices or screens at a time.)

iTunes hd can result in older encodes and may lack their version of ATMOS.

Even amazon Prime UHD is noticeably better then HD but they will post very bad quality HD just to have more things available to watch. (Again the 4K is often newer.)

Watch in real time as a million people sign a petition to cancel Netflix over hosting the controversial film Cuties.

I haven’t seen the film but I’ve read it’s disturbing. I’m tired of cancel culture but this film may actually be illegal by USA content standards.

Most people signing that petition won’t have seen the film either lol. I think people lack common sense these days. Just Don't watch it if you feel that strong (not you, the people in question) It looks like Netflix made a mistake, it’s going to happen when they allow creatives some freedom, the alternative is a sanitised, boring selection of ‘safe’ film and tv.
Wanting to cancel a complete streaming service over this mistake is a bit weird.

I read it contains actual naked 11 year olds. Maybe only for seconds. Edit - apparently it does not.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt9196192...dvisory-nudity

If it doesn’t have child nudity then I guess this is just good old American Squeamishness.
