I am new here, but you can add me to the list. I bought mine as a xmas/move-in gift for my buddy just to start him off (he has a real crappy, 10-year old sony HTiB). I purchased the PSW-10 to match a P series TSC 5-speaker setup. Hopefully, he won't experience any of the problems mentioned in this thread.

Thumbs up New sub

In all probability he won't. The number of people who come on here to report a problem is small compared to the number of subs sold. I've never had a moment's trouble out of mine, as is true of most people, I'm sure.

I'm sure there's a lot more people here who haven't had problems as to those who have. Just be sure to fill out the warranty card within ten days.

There's always a chance in electronics that you'll get a bad one. That's just the way it goes in mass produced items. Where you need to always check is on customer service and return policies.

I can say that I have not had any problems with my HD-SUB 12.

I just won the AA RW8 with the "Best Offer" option which I put down $80 and they accepted it. So Big Daddy, add me to that looong list of owners. I can't wait to try this baby out. It looks like it packs a wallop for it's size and I think it's right for my room size.

Congrats on winning the auction for your new sub !!! I'm sure that you will absolutely love it. Just be sure to keep the volume down for the first week or so in order to break it in. As I've mentioned before - the longer you play it, the better it sounds.

i got a AA hd-12 sub, and WOW! it cranks. i just had to be carefull at first because it distorts easily when you first play it but after a week of easy playing it cranks and is tearing my room apart.

Congratulations to both of you. What color are your subwoofers and what other speakers are you using?

Just got a second chance offer for the AA PSW 12 for $110 so I had to get it. Hopefully it will fit in with my Polk Audio PSW 505's I already have and help eliminate some of those annoying dead zones.

Ok, I think its time to upgrade my sub. I have a Polk Audio PSW-10 sub. Do you think I will see an improvement if I get a HD-SUB12 or HD-SUB15? Now I heard that bigger is usually better, and if the upgrade does improve my sound, should I get the HD-SUB15 over the HD-SUB12? Is the HD-SUB15 worth the extra money? Thanks

If you have the money, buy the bigger one.

Yes, a 15" subwoofer is an upgrade, but don't think of it as an upgrade. It is always better to use two subwoofers instead of one in a small home theater room. With one subwoofer, you may have too many dead spots in the room where you hear no bass. With two subwoofers, it is possible to get more even and smoother bass across the room for all positions. The best place to put two subwoofers in a rectangualr room is in the middle of side walls or one in the middle of the front wall and one in the middle of the rear wall.

Less then two weeks using this sub and I added about 3rd of pound of polly-fill to fill the volume of the cabinet and this sub plays very tight.

I must say this:

I have the amp dialed less then 1/2 and my Pioneer A/V sub set to -1.0 and volume @ +25 (which is like 70% of max volume) and playing some Timberland, this sub pushed very clean and moves a lot of air. I will not say it's louder then my MWF-15 (I recently sold), but I like the way it PUMPs.

My home will be completed in April/2010 and I will BE getting an additional AA 12"!
Look at this puppy pump with ease Loud little fugger too!!

Default Sub Isolation

I was wondering what you guys think about this? I was able to obtain some high density foam and I am using it to Isolate my speakers from the floor and each other ( I have my Energy C-100's sitting on top of my old Sansui's). Anyway I did the same thing with my Hd sub12 and I have to say I didn't like the effect at all. My house is wood frame construction. Sub sits on a carpeted floor with a plywood sub floor. I was expecting it to sound better but it actually dramatically reduced the bass effect. I have the sub in the same exact location i just removed the isolation foam and it sounds much better. I wasn't expecting this result at all, and I was wondering if someone can shed some light on why this is. The foam is a soft but very high density material. I can stand on it with one foot and not totally compress it. Yet it compresses easily in my hands. Anyway Big Daddy if you happen to be reading this maybe you have some ideas as to why this works this way? I was amazed at how much isolating the sub reduced the bass output. The other speakers sound fine btw, it just effected the sub.

Are you sure it affected the actual output? Perhaps what you have now is a more accurate low frequency response than what might have been a more "boomy" sound before....this could explain why it sounds "louder" without the high density foam? Just a guess on my part......

I never really thought of it as "Boomy" to begin with. It just seems more subdued sitting on the foam. It's not like it rattles the windows, but I just feel the bass more with the foam removed.

Only your ears really know what sounds right to you.....obviously without actually hearing it for myself, it is a total guess on my part. Have you thought about an actual riser....or at least try to put it up on a stool or chair and see if you can sense any better bass response?
