I am aware, have you got anything new to share that I don't know? It's just arguing semantics really... There are quite a number of Blu-ray discs that have developed issues and no longer work, that were no fault of the owners... Pick your poison (If you do a bit of research, you'll find that I was the member that made it widely known about the French Silent Hill Blu-ray disc packing up). I don't care about your allegiance to physical media, both have positives and negatives... Physical is my choice, you also have chosen physical media, however others have made their choice and have decided that sourcing content from online best suits them. Your crusade to try to make them think that their choice is the wrong one, and to convince them to move to physical, does get old fast.

But way to focus on the trivial to make a point when so many lives have been ruined. Good for you!
You obviously missed the point and in doing so have become abrasive and offensive - just like it was forecasted many like you would. Congratulations!

BTW - check your homeowners policy to see how much you get when you are faced with a total loss of possessions.

Isn't that the point of this thread: for people to say why they think their favorite distribution method is superior to the others?

I didn't miss the point. You were trying to make your point regarding physical media at the expense of a tragedy destroying thousands of lives. That is the only reason I became abrasive. If you have something constructive to add that doesn't belittle a tragedy I will be more than happy to debate the point with you in a civil manner.

And I am well aware of my personal possession allocation in my insurance policy. I set it to ensure I could replace what I needed to.

Nah - I will pass. You can't be objective about the subject. You're too emotional to have a discussion with.

Please show me an example where someone has made a rational and non-confrontational argument for streaming and I was "too emotional" to have a discussion. Apart from Alchav, who I admit I have been short with because he constantly posts falsehoods just to get a reaction, I defy you to find one. I admit I use streaming, I have just said I will never purchase a digital title. So I'm really not sure what you're going on about.

So you are saying that you actually think the point of the thread is putting the others side down about their choice, and trying to sell them on the benefits of physical media, in hopes that they jump ship?

One post to say what distribution method that you prefer and why, is really all this is needed. I don't think I've heard anything new from you in several years, you repeat the same thing over and over again regularly to the same small group of people... What a waste of time and energy.

That's what most of the posts in this thread are. People saying why physical media is better and why everyone should support it. Or people saying why digital media is better and why everyone should support it.

I say the same things repeatedly because they are refuted repeatedly. Why are you even posting in this thread if you are only interested in complaining about the other people posting in it? Talk about a waste of time and energy.

Probably spent more on streaming than most:

Mainly used for streaming:
Sony FMP-X10 ● $470 (sold for $120)
Sony BDP-S6700 ● $88.00
Sony UBP-X800/BM ● $268.00
Sony UBP-X1000ES ● $498.00

Streaming only:
Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 ● $199.99 + FLIRC Receiver $23 + Inteset IReTV USB IR Receiver $24
Roku Ultra 2019 ● $83
(2) Chromecast Audio ● $35.00 each

For a total of $1,603 for hardware.

The Sony FMP-X10 media player had Netflix and could do UHD streams so we started watching House of Cards in UHD in late 2014 or early 2015 (?).
So you may want to do a little research before you say that I am stuck in old ways just because I prefer physical media.

I am glad that you are not infected.

I am very, very sorry that your sister and brother-in-law are, though. I hope that they make full and speedy recoveries.

I very much want people with different points of view to post here. I have said many times that I loathe echo chambers. A thread where everyone agrees with each other gets boring fast.

It is ironic that the member who has been banned more often than any of us is here criticizing so many others for how they post. Remove the beam from your own eye before worrying about the mote in ours.

And when was the last time that you said it a new member that has visited the thread? It doesn't happen often. You say same thing to the same people in this thread again and again, which they disregard over and over... So yes, you must enjoy wasting your time and energy.

You said that the purpose of the thread is to say what distribution method you prefer and why... I could say that in 25 words or less, and win a competition from my answer.

I've said this before, I personally think this thread had more members posting in it, when it was in the digital movie sub-forum, and this also gave the thread balance, because the discussions were closer to 50/50. The current state of the thread is a shadow of it's former self, and is now dominated by 6 or so phyiscal media extremists (or at least like to think they are), that have become friends... As a result, whenever this thread looks like it could possibly get off the ground again, because someone new that prefers digital has the courage to comment, you band together as one, and defend each other, and often quickly drive them away. The digital crowd have got wind of this, and I believe that this makes them want to keep away because of it. All this thread really has become now is, a handful of Blu-ray enthusiast, agreeing with one another about almost everything, when it could be so much more.

We have a new(ish) member (Admiral) who if my memory serves me correct is a digital fan. Every member here has been nothing but courteous to him. He in return has been the same to all disc fans.

As for all of us agreeing with each other? That’s hilarious. You would know that if you were a regular.

Also, most of the disc fans in this thread also use streaming services. Your version of things and the reality don’t add up. These guys are seeing the differences on a daily basis.

As a matter of fact, shows on streaming services are mentioned quite frequently in this thread.

When someone posts something I disagree with I reply and state why I disagree. When someone posts something I agree with I reply and state why I agree. Other people do the same thing. None of that is "banding together" or "ganging up" it is simply multiple people posting their opinions.

Wow, one member... I reckon we would see 10 or more in the first week if you were to disappear permanently. Are you up for testing the theory?

I said that the physical media guys that dominate this thread mostly agree with one another (I used the term agreeing with one another about almost everything, but it means the same thing... That means regularly on most things, but not all of the time)... Obviously you all regularly disagree with the digital guys that you outnumber.

I am passionate about physical media and will continue to argue its merits. Anyone who is passionate about digital media is free to argue its merits as well.

I welcome dissenting opinions and love to argue against them.

No, I don’t want to test the theory. I did, however disappear for a few weeks a while back. Sure, the thread thrives as usual but nothing out of the ordinary new members wise.

You really are on a mission today aren’t you? You have offended every older member on here, Questioned people’s integrity, made up accusations of ganging up on non existent members, now you want to see me banned for some reason? Well, sorry but due to circumstances I will be on this forum even more until next week. Sorry to disappoint!

Just stop attacking people, we are all just going about our business. Go and take it out on a punchbag or something.
