I will rake it out tomorrow if I can find it. It was a Samsung owner who was complaining if that helps. It’s late here, excuse me.

I'm one of those people, I had that 62" Mitsubishi DLP probably close to 20 years. I bought this Sony in 2017, so it's getting up there. If you buy a good brand they last awhile, and Sony is one of the best. I love my Apps, and can access any Provider except Apple. I'm a Stock Holder, and would like to support them maybe they will get an Android App.

Please tell me you got the one with the disc drive

There was a time when PS3 was the best and most capable Blu Ray player and I think it’s likely the PS5 will be the same for UHDBD. One reason .... many many users and frequent updates.

Edit - also it’s more like a HTPC than a stand alone player and all that computation power and stuff....it can likely read ahead and cache while a standalone player can’t reallly do that.

I did get the one with the disc drive. Also pre-ordered the media remote and an additional controller.

I am curious to know if the new Playstation 5 with 4K disc drive will automatically select Dolby Vision or will it still have to be selected manually like with all of Sony's other 4K disc players? Sony's requirement that Dolby Vision be manually selected on their 4K disc players is an idiotic design in my opinion.

I am still not a fan of consoles that suck, or Hoover if you will, the disc into the machine. There should be as little touching of the disc as possible and thus I prefer a disc tray that opens and closes.

Congratulations to cheez avenger and Admiral on getting their pre-orders accepted; this is expected to be one hard to find item this holiday season.

You are jumping the gun. DV hasn’t even been confirmed yet.

As for the drive, I’m a fan of the sucking motion.

It would be a BIG step backwards if the Playstation 5 did not support it. With only two months until its release and pre-orders being live, Sony should state all the specs already so that people can make fully informed decisions about what they are buying.

See how much you like that "sucking motion" if you ever get a disc stuck inside the machine; a disc tray can be pried open if need be. Touching these extra sensitive 4K discs unnecessarily increases the risk of scratches that could cause disc reading errors; not a fan of the design at all.

Totally agree, 3D playback confirmation would be cool also.

I have used the PS4 since launch, yet to have a disc stick in there. That’s a lot of discs both games and films/tv.

Sony hasn't even confirmed that? Is this machine some classified cloak and dagger device?

They are banging on about their tempest engine and the 3D audio. I’m guessing that may be the Atmos replacement for games. The PS5 not having Atmos is a blow for sure though. Especially when the new Xbox supports DV and Atmos.

I have never had a disc get stuck in the PS3, either, but it is one of those things that could happen that keep me up at night.

My biggest objection is that I do not like the disc being touched, especially on the playback side, while being absorbed into the machine. 4K discs are far more sensitive than are blu-rays, so it is another area of concern to me.

Do the Xbox consoles with 4K disc drives use trays or do they suck the discs inside, too?

There is no good reason for the Sony Playstation 5 NOT to support Dolby Atmos. It sounds like Sony's just being cheap and refusing to pay Dolby the licensing fee or some similar petty legality.

A $500 device should have every feature, and more, that their $250 4K disc player has (Sony UBP X800M2).

You wouldn't think whether or not it had the ability to play a 10 year-old format, 3D blu-ray, would be a state secret.
