Most of their IFC releases are considered new releases in the US; ie, Antichrist, Summer Hours, Still Walking, etc

Hunger was a 2008 film that I don't believe has any other US release.
Antichrist had a UK release, but Criterion was the first to release it in the US, 2009 film.

Did anyone see "City Lights" on TCM earlier this morning? It was the Criterion release. It looks great. If this is any indication of what the BD is going to look like, I believe people will be thrilled.

Yes! I really wouldn't mind if June was an all Rivette month. I'm dying to see his films!

So I just saw the criterion DVD of sweet movie from a netflix rental. It was on of the worst movies I have seen. I don't mean in how gross it was but I mean the plot was just stupid. I was actually happen my netflix copy was too scratched that it wouldn't read some scenes.

Not me. I already have Rivette dvds. Would rather have more Antonioni on blu, new or re-release, doesn't matter to me. But wouldn't mind some Rivette, preferably something I don't already have. A nice Eclipse set even.

Which do you think is more likely to happen first? Stay tuned, I suppose.

Are you just talking about new movies or new movies to dvd/cinema in the U.S.? Because there are alot of new movies to dvd/cinema that isn't contemporary (Dillinger, Army of Shadows, Made in USA, etc). I wouldn't call them catalog titles since they were never released in the U.S. in cinemas until recently when Janus/Rialto/Criterion did it all.

We all know which will happen first. Criterion has been around for decades. Wes Anderson - 5 Jacques Rivette - 0.

Sadly my power went out, so my record was cancelled.

That's why Out 1 would be nice. Can't even get that as an import dvd.

Not yet.... it was a "Back-order" So it won't be shipped for another few days (but it's coming via Prime)

To those who may know.... I haven't seen Out 1 (although I'd like to, and given the length I would think that perhaps it would be a 4-disc Blu-ray set, so I don't see how it would be "THAT" price prohibitive to the "completists" as CG called them) I have seen Wuthering Heights and La Belle Noiseuse however.... There are a few others available via Netflix..... what would be some good Rivette suggested-viewing?

Celine and Julie Go Boating. The problem is most of his films aren't available in the US. Just more recent ones like Va Savior. New Yorker released a vhs version of Celine and Julie though so you might be able to track that down.

That is the only Criterion release I think I've ever felt regret after paying money for it. I have watched some out there films, and the so called disturbing points of the film didn't do it. I just really hated how filthy everythign seemed. It just really made me feel sick watching it no matter what was the image was in the frame. I quickly sold off the DVD copy. I know many will bash my thoughts on the film, but it just didn't sit well with me.

Side note at least the filmmaker was able to bring his vision to the screen. Just not for me.

Second, plus La Belle Noiseuse and the alternate version Divertimento . I also love Story of Marie and Julien.

Damn I'm sad to see the hate for this film, I really liked it. I'm just glad Criterion released this, WR, and his Free Radical eclipse set. Big Makavejev fan.

The Royal Tenenbaums and The Life Aquatic were also brand new releases.
