Why would Lucas bother releasing them? He released them on DVD and as soon as he did people wanted them on Blu-ray. As soon as a newer format becomes available people will want them on that as well. And even if he did people would STILL find problems. People say they want the films unaltered. Yet these same people complain when lightsabers haven't been touched up or look green on the Millennium Falcon.

He thinks everything is wrong with them? What really? Re-dubbing Boba's voice was necessary for continuity and to remove a plot hole. The same with adding in the Emporer. The blinking Ewoks make them seem more real. The dug in Jaba's palace branches the two trilogies. The no also connects the trilogy but its not isolated. Its another "I have a bad feeling about this". Its the poetry Lucas constantly mentions. There are resonating beats throughout the saga. There's a Nooooo in each of the six films. are you telling me that Vader saying no, something which lasts a few seconds, ruins over 6 hours of film for you? That's pathetic and you're saying George Lucas is a whiny kid? Give me a break. Are there any more toys in your pram that you could throw out.

I'm not saying everything he's done is genius, far from it. What I AM saying is that they're HIS films and he can release them in what form HE wants regardless of other people's opinions. If it was commercially viable they would have been released by now.

I've got the OOT on DVD. Sure, it's not the best PQ in the world but I have them films and they don't really add anything to the experience. Well, some of the effects

Because they don't need to be remade. All he's done over the years is touch up the special effects and re-recorded/added in some dialogue in order to make the two trilogies fit together better. It's pretty shocking quality as it's a Laser Disc port with inferior sound (and it's not even anamorphic). Why Lucas didn't restore the originals before adding CGI additions to them is completely beyond me and it goes beyond all good logic.

I'm also sure there are few fantastic quality prints of the original trilogy floating around ready and waiting to be restored.

Dude needs to disappear, get out of the limelight, and reflect on what made him so powerful in the first place. But first....Episode I in 3D!!!!!

The comments about Lucas retiring are nothing new, he's been saying he's going to focus on making more personal projects for a few years now. The problem is, Star Wars and Indy keep getting in the way. It's only receiving more press coverage now because of the release of Red Tails.

There are 3, 2 hour bootleg documentaries. One for each film of the OT. All 3 are professionally done by the same person and contain material straight from 'Lucasfilm'.

I know what I'd like to start with my they didn't include it.

"Empire of Dreams" which was on the OT DVD boxset bonus disc.

Not as good as that but I'd start with the OT documentaries on Disc 3
