We've got the same TV. The rest of my setup is nowhere near as nice as yours though, haha

Those are pieces of my flooring tile installed on the wall with some white trim on them - and I incorporated some LED strip lighting into one. Just aesthetics! All the wiring is done in-wall there.

Enthralled to have a reference level display again for the first time in 10 years, lol. Absolutely love rewatching things again to see them with a new light. Thanks buddy!

I'm on month two of mine, really blown away every time! How are you liking yours?

Been about five months for me and I love it, of course! It's an upgrade from a 2016 Samsung that was 20" smaller and didn't have Dolby Vision, so needless to say the difference has been dramatic. It's got a few minor quirks I don't love, but what TV doesn't?

I'm curious as to your quirks, because I've yet to find any! I had a weird green screen issue one day, but nothing since.

Well, and the local dimming not working with the menu up would be a quirk, but even that one is super minor. Okay, hold on, also a button that would show me full display info like my Vizio did. I'm on two, can I find three more?

The only things that bug me:

-Contrast and Local Dimming settings don't save independently between HDR10 and SDR (really hoping this one will be fixed via a firmware update down the line)

-When watching black and white movies, there is a noticeable color-cooling effect around highlights, which I believe is the result of how the local dimming and screen illumination are working. Thankfully it's generally not perceptible when watching color stuff, and I've been able to mitigate it for the most part by lowering Contrast and Local Dimming, but it's definitely noticeable, especially for someone who watches as much black and white stuff as I do, haha.

Goodness! I have noticed the second one. Very faintly, but you're right!

Well, there you have it. That's 3. The former doesn't bother me too much.

I think my Pioneer 5020 from 2009 was the only display I've had without compromises!

Well, if any of the old crowd is still here - life reared its ugly head and made me hit the reset button on a lot of things. Was without home theater and movies for almost 9 months.

Finally got everything set back up at a new place two weeks ago, upgraded my fronts, and the new version of the home theater is up now!

Hey JJ.....totally different look.....but still living large I see.

You always impress me with your mixture of aesthetics and function in your space (not to mention the equipment itself). Hope life stays good going forward and welcome back "ol' timer!"

Lots going on in my end of the world too.....but just life in general (all good)....my HT is still doing its job.

Completely different, buddy. This time I let someone else have input in how to design and decorate the place, and it ended up looking wonderful. Yes, hoping for nothing but good things from here on out! Glad to hear you're doing good too, pal!

Who you calling old?

Whoah, big shift in colors, but I love the warmness this time around, and as always, it looks great!

Good to see you around!

Edit: I noticed in your sig you're running 10 channels, but you have 15 channels of amplification with the Emo amps. Curious how you're utilizing all the channels, assuming it's all in the same room. Bi-amping maybe? Or? And I'm also curious what you think about going from overheads to height?

Oh hey buddy! Good to see you, glad you're still around too!!

Yes, went warm and "cozy" according to my gf LOL. She had lots of input in the artistic direction of the new place, lol.

Oh, I am not using the inactive channels, no biamping or anything like that at all. The OG XPA-3 still provides 300w on a 6 ohm speaker, more than enough.

I'm still on weekend 3 of breaking the system in, so I'll have to get back to you on the comparisons between in-ceiling overhead speakers to height speakers now. Couldn't do in-ceiling in this place.

Hid all the gear in the back of the room this time on a stand:

Got it. I've ran overheads and height so I get curious what people think who have used both configurations.

I'm currently running a "modified" version of up-firing speakers, and believe it or not it actually has become my preference.

I figured the gear was hidden. Looks good!

Who are you telling! I went nuts, lol. I haven't gone that long without my system since I even had a system - so since 2008!

I miss those days when the audio section was lively.

But I don't miss the contagion known as upgraditis that we were all passing around to each other lol.

Definitely feel you on that. I've gone even longer without a proper setup, so I totally get it. Life has a way of putting home theater on the back burner, especially with kids in the mix. Still, there’s nothing quite like getting everything dialed back in after a long hiatus. I haven't posted on here in a while, but i had to give you your props on the new set up.

Congrats on the new place and the front speaker upgrade! Always a great feeling when the system comes back online, even better when it’s improved. Enjoy every minute of it.........you’ve earned it!

Eric, holy crap. Hey ol buddy!

I went through a - well, you know - the ol' d-word, so that took a while to resolve and restart.

Back to enjoying 2-3 movies a week and it feels good. Glad to see you around still, thank you for your comments!
