I haven't ventured into cover design, but quite the opposite as I learned to author DVDs and Blu-rays over the pandemic. I started creating professional looking title menus and chapter menus (and subtitles!) for releases that would never be released otherwise.

It would be a good compliment to the cover artists here when I need a new cover for my new DVD or Blu-ray. :-)

Very nice. I do the same thing. I started my journey down the Blu-ray authoring rabbit hole a couple years ago. For movies I don't usually bother with menus, but from time to time I'll include them such as my Blu-ray for "Titan A.E.". For TV shows I always include a Top Menu. Lately I've been including a Pop Up menu as well. The last couple seasons of "The Blacklist" are good examples more on par with what one might expect from a retail Blu-ray. See here and here. As for cover art, in my case I rarely print it out. All my DVD and Blu-ray cases are stored out in the garage, all my discs stored for playback in Sony 400-disc Blu-ray players. I do use cover art with my cataloging software though so high quality front and back cover images are always a must.

I started working on the back portion of my "Return to Paradise" cover art today. I"ll be offering two versions of the cover art in this case, a version that mirrors a mix of the different DVD releases and a version that mirrors the slip case of the Imprint release. I decided to work on the Imprint version first. It's coming along quite nicely I think. See below.

And here's a quick mock-up of a version based on the UK DVD cover art. I took a scan I found of the DVD cover art, resized the back portion, then shifted items around below the collage of images in addition to updating the UPC. I'd use this as a template basically.

There's no turning back now I guess. I had a few hours to kill today. Decided to see what I could do with the above mock-up. Replaced all the items below the credit block. Before and after pics provided below.

This evening I'll be replacing the rest of the textual elements, then attempting to recreate the collage of images. I'll be replacing the main artwork as well using a higher quality scan of the DVD cover art. I purchased the UK DVD today which should arrive next week so.

I've got another update I thought I'd share with everyone. Yesterday I finished replacing the text above and below the collage of images. Today I recreated the collage of images. This is the first time I've attempted to blend pics together like this. Not bad for my first attempt. See below.

I spent a good bit of time today doing touch-up work as well. In fact, it went so well that I'm not going to even bother scanning the UK DVD cover art once my copy arrives next week. Going to spend the next couple days checking over my work and tweaking a few things. On Friday I'll make both versions of my "Return to Paradise" and "Reservation Road" cover art available for download.

Has anyone made Criterion sized Blu-Ray covers for the 4K Universal Classic Monsters discs? I'm looking for retro style covers for Dracula, Frankenstein, The Bride of Frankenstein, The Wolf Man, The Mummy, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Phantom of the Opera, and The Invisible Man.

I'm playing around with the collage of images for my "Return to Paradise" cover art which I touched on in my prior post. My goal here is to create better separation between each image while also improving the blending from image to image. Curious what everyone thinks. See below.

My initial attempt to recreate the above...


More of the front porch revealed...


I'm pretty satisfied with the improvements made here. The only thing I'm not completely sold on is the transition from the third to fourth pic. I'm allowing more of the third image to bleed through below the railing of the front porch in the fourth pic while also revealing more of the fourth pic above the railing. I like seeing more of each image, but there's no real delineation now going from one to the other. Decision, decisions.

Hi folks. Just wondering whether anyone would be interested in making me a Chucky blu ray collection cover for an 8 disc blu ray case with a 22mm spine width in the style of the Good Guys box. I want to put the first seven movies and the documentary Living With Chucky in one case.

It doesn't need to be anything too fancy, no need to list special features, languages, subtitles etc. And of course I would be happy to pay for your hard work.

The raw scan isn't in great shape. I've got a better scanner now so I could give it another try, then do some clean-up work. A complete rebuild would be the way to go, but I'm not sure I have the time right now.

Yes, that would be fantastic. Not too fussed about not having the Living With Chucky details included but yes, that would suit my needs perfectly.

Not interested in the Steelbook packaging or the included DVDs, so I sold them off, kept the Blu discs for myself and made a cover for them.
