Actually new news. Last time they were experimenting. Now ALL 4K titles will be reencoded.

They were not. It was already acknowledged that they would revisit all of their 4K shows. They will then push on with HDR encodes.

I speculate that Netflix’s special sauce will be potato juice.

Jeff Goldblum would be so happy for you.

We all have access to these streaming apps; I use even more than the ones that you listed, but the biggest difference is that I also own a library of content on disc which contains many titles that you can not stream at all. Therefore, my selection is far better than yours. You may give me my cookie now. But not peanut butter; I hate peanut butter.

Netflix clearly does not care about the complaints that they have received from many of their 4K streaming customers as reported by Forbes and other news outlets, but that's no surprise considering that most of their customers only care about cost and convenience; quality was never their concern.

Netflix continues to be worth every cent that I do not pay them.

Netflix was always weak sauce and their solution is to dilute it even further.

For someone that hates streaming it is amazing how much time, money, and effort you have spent on it.

The Alfred Hitchcock Classics Collection on 4K disc presents me with quite the conundrum.

I absolutely hate the packaging of the U.S. set and the way that they have rammed the 4K discs into those super tight cardboard sleeves. Many of our forum members have vociferously complained about what a pain in the ass it is to pry a disc out and then to put it back in. The potential to scratch the hyper sensitive 4K discs is just too high.

I could import the U.K set instead with its far better packaging, but that leads to another problem.

There is a disc replacement program for the Psycho 4K disc due to it not having the true original mono audio. It instead just down mixes the multi-channel audio to create mono sound and the result was poorly received by many of our forum members.

If I were to buy the U.S. set with its horrible packaging, I could request the corrected Psycho 4K disc. If I buy the U.K. set I am probably stuck with the erroneous disc.

Lastly, I am now in my disc buying moratorium until I replace my AVR. Not even the coveted 4K releases of the Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit trilogies will change that. (I'm hoping that might get these for me, but he usually just brings me coal. )

We all know if you saw those collections for 1/2 off the dead would rise and run off with them.

I think it more to the issue of during the pandemic the power bills of running server sessions at higher Mbps costs too much. So because Netflix sees larger usage they scale back their streaming quality a bit to compensate.

Sorry if I come across as hating streaming because we use streaming quite a bit. Part of the reason for having the hardware and the number providers is to know first hand what both are like. This started right after Warner announced exclusive support for Blu-ray and many former HD DVD supporters started singing the praises of streaming at AVS. The one thing most never did was to say streaming quality = Blu-ray. To this day most of the AVS streaming fans acknowledge for best quality get the disc.

Most of us don't prop up anything to say its the greatest, we all just celebrate the joy of watching content in the best possible manner whatever the source is.

If you like be entertained, Netflix's Emily in Paris is highly entertaining (comedy-drama). Check it out. Though its depiction of France is tré cliché, Emily in Paris is rom-com fantasy at its finest, spectacularly dressed and filled with charming performances. (rotten tomatoes)

I was joking; no one who has invested as much as you have in streaming devices and services would do so if they hated streaming. Therein lied the humor as many of us disc aficionados are accused of hating streaming when we ourselves use it. Who continues to spend their time on money on something that they dislike?

The Hitchcock set is a mess IMO with terrible packaging and a disc replacement to deal with as an added annoyance. Universal used similar crappy packaging for the standard edition of the Back To The Future trilogy on 4K disc as well.

Thanks guys, but I'm the only one for Digital taking the brunt for all this. Cevolution helps out, but he is also a Physical guy. Hugh Grant is okay, but I think Jeff Goldblum as Dr Malcolm is cooler. His line about being on the lookout for the next ex-Mrs Malcolm is unforgettable!

Whether it's a rare compliment from vocal critics or getting surprise support from unlikely sources, take the good where you find it.

Disney+ Content Advisory:

IMHO, the MPAA rating should be expanded to include a statement
similar to this (then maybe content wouldn't be censored on the
streaming services).
