It's so good of him to be honest, about how he feels.

It must be a real bummer, being a high profile actor, earning million's of $$$.

I feel so sorry for him [emoji46]

Yeah, my heart bleeds whenever I read things like this. Don't get me wrongo, making movies of this scale is a VERY arduous task for all involved and we're only human, so it's no wonder the stars come out at the end battered and bruised (literally as well as figuratively) and swear that they won't do another one etc etc. But when they're potentially pocketing $60 million simoleons for that hardship - as opposed to the army of grunts working for scale - you can't help but think that they doth protest too much.

And I'm naive why? Because I think Craig is being unnecessarily hyperbolic with his vitriol towards the Bond franchise?

He's pushing 50, time to move on. He is not a very good actor, so he can retire with his Bond money.

Based on Craig's recent comments i'm actually going to skip out on watching Spectre at the cinema. I can't stand the way he speaks about the franchise and lack of reverence and gratitude he has for it. I hope these comments come back to bite him big time. He's so full of himself yet can't open a movie (outside of Bond) to save his life/ career. Can't stand the guy now.

Talk about being ungrateful. What was Craig doing before Casino Royale? Tomb Raider? Layer Cake? Come on, the guy owes his whole acting career to the Bond movies. Too bad he doesn't realize that.

He's a cynical Hollywood movie star. I don't find that so surprising. I tried to work in the film industry (moved to L.A. and everything), and found the process to be very unsatisfying. Many outsiders have a romantic view of how the motion picture industry works, but it's full of egos and tediousness with the occasional sprinkle of fun. Of course, it does depend on which circles you're in. I'm sure working with Judd Apatow and/or Adam McKay would be more of a blast. Working on Bond, not so much.

And don't forget, money doesn't buy happiness. It merely buys "things". Yes, I'm sure we can all fantasize about how many things we'd buy with all those millions, but the money and the things wouldn't make us happy ultimately. You have to be happy with your life when you strip away those elements.

Having said all that, I rather enjoy being an outsider, so I can watch a movie like Spectre and not have to be reminded of the politics and other B.S. behind-the-scenes. Watching a Bond movie and not having to interact with the producers is a blessing. We should appreciate that we don't know everything that goes on behind the camera, and instead get to watch a cinematic story unfold in exotic locations with thrilling stunts and clever dialogue.

Sorry for the ranting. I get where everyone here is coming from. Craig does come off as somewhat ungrateful, but like others have said, he probably just needs a good break. There's only so much a person can take.

I don't think he was being all to serious about what he said.

I think you should reassess the interview.

For me that's part of the magic of movies; NOT the romanticised notion of what it's like to work in, on or around them, but how they can still create coherent pieces of entertainment in spite of all the thousands of moving parts and the various people at loggerheads behind the scenes. So I'll still be going to see Spectre regardless of Craig's ill-advised but most likely intended-to-be-humourously-sardonic interview, probably with my Dad who's a huge Bond fan.

Spectre is going to suck as a movie and I'm tired of this era, which is why I will be skipping out on a Bond movie theatrically for the first time in my life. I couldn't care less what Craig says, although he's clearly joking.

I was tired of Craig before he even became Bond. I don't hate his films, but he's so rude IRL that it's hard for me not to root for the villain.

You'll have to PM me some of the details.

And I was always rooting for Mads Mikkelsen but then again I'd do that anyway.

Mads wound have been a better Bond. That would have been like God-tier Bond.

Anyone else get a gut feeling this film will be a let-down with the latest interview?

First, there were reports of script and production problems in the Sony emails, and while those are often fixed by the final cut, still made me a bit uneasy. Then, while I get these are difficult films to make, don't think Craig would sound so bitter if he was thrilled with how the film was turning out. Hope I'm wrong and it is just as good as CR and Skyfall, but getting prepared for another QoS.

And here comes the negativity talk about how Daniel Craig is a "terrible" James Bond and that many fear Spectre will be an "awful" film.

I hope Daniel Craig is done after Spectre. There's nothing worse than having an actor who doesn't care about his roles. I want someone to play Bond who actually cares and who is a nice bloke. Pierce Brosnan outclasses Daniel Craig, despite me really enjoying Casino Royale I was gutted when Craig replaced Brosnan.

Whether it's British humor or not... those who take it literally just don't get it. Maybe it wasn't even humorous in his mind.

Most of us have, at one time or another, made a similar statement about our job. We all finish a project or a tough period at work and swear we will never do that again... only to do it again despite wanting to slit our wrists over it.

It's a job for him. It might appear glamorous to us, but to him it's a job and being Bond is shit-ton of work compared to making any other movie. It's no different that you or I making a similar comment about our job.

UO: I still would like to see Casino Royale starring Pierce Brosnan, written/directed by Quentin Tarantino

You must have hated Sean Connery then, because towards the end, he was was only there for the money. He couldn't have cared less about James Bond by then. He even made the rogue movie 'Never Say Never Again', not only for the large fee, but also to annoy Albert R. Broccoli.

I must say that it would have been interesting. Personally, I don't think the reboot thing was necessary; they could have just used the plot about a villain called Le Chiffre, who financed terrorism through gambling.
