Star Wars will drop, but when it does start looking a future releases, cause it probably will mean a new Star Wars set will be out, either better design/artwork than this ugly set or include 3-D TPM

This is STAR WARS not Rocky or Alien.

I can't see this ever going down to less that £45.

I find it hard to believe people are still shelling out £50 for this and £70.00 when it first came out..

There is no need for it to be at that price, they are are not costly to make and they are just riping off the customer.

It's no wonder that there is still piracy out there..

As a newbie, I'm compelled to ask... why do people on this forum care about how much other people spend on releases? I bought it on release because it was worth that money to me, so I won't be criticized for it. I also won't criticize anyone for waiting for it to be cheaper.

I don't have the complete boxset due to most of the extras features being around for a while in some sort of bootleg form. The special features I'd be interested in anyway. Also that I can't really be doing with the 'PT'.
It took me as while to give in and get the 'OT' with yet more needless changes being made.

I have to agree with the comments posted here about the price. Given that almost a year has passed since its release, Lucasfilm takes an almost Disney like approach when it comes to discounting any Star Wars film release. It's pathetic ... the thing about it is, is that these studios don't want anyone discounting their merchandise.

+1. Very reasonable post, it's not really anybody else's business what you pay for products. I pre-ordered it as soon as possible, and don't regret paying the price I did. Having said that, while it would be nice for everyone, I don't expect films with the reputation of Star Wars to be cheap anytime soon.

Really? I've seen loads of Disney deals, BOGOF offers all the time. 2 for £20 or less. From everywhere online to Tesco, Asda, Sainsburys etc.

Same with Star Wars, the DVDs (long before Blu Ray) were reduced at some point, usually a reissue with different cover art or Tin or whatever.

This will be no different. They'll be a box with the 3D films, reissues one at a time whatever Luca$ can squeeze from the fan he will.

this will never drop in price. if your lucky it might be reduced by £5 in a sale but thats about it. because its star wars and because its the biggest movies of all time people will pay the price. just look at the price of the boxset since it was released. it has been at £55 for a long time now.........

Yeah, this isn't coming down anytime soon. I can see the two trilogy sets dropping to about the £18 mark each though.

And Star Wars does go on sale, I picked up the 2-disc originals (Original Theatrical on disc 2) in a 3 for £20 about a month after they were released from Virgin Megastore.

Here in the United States, there are some companies that don't want retailers discounting their merchandise. Microsoft, Disney, Apple, Lucasfilm are just a few. They actually will "punish" retailers by refusing to ship any merchandise they produce to that retailer or retailer store chain if they discount their merchandise.

Disney has been getting more lax in that they will choose a selected limited number of titles that they will allow to be discounted and they also set the discounted price rates. Retailers are forced to abide by their requirements for fear of being put on their black list.

The only way I can see myself getting this is via a price glitch, for the extras discs. I'm resigned to my poor non-anamorphic DVDs, created from 1993 laserdisc masters. I refuse to watch the '97, '04, '11 cuts.
