Why is this considered a feminist movie? Without max these chicks would have nothing.

Max had nothing to do with Furiosa's decision to break the wives out.

Despite what some extremists might have you believe, feminism does not mean “anti-men”. It means “women are capable of holding their own; they are on equal footing with men”. FURY ROAD is a feminist movie because the women in it are complete badasses; it’s as simple as that.

I personally think Mad MAx Fury Road is the greatest feminist film that I have ever seen. If I had daughters, I would love for them to watch this movie and Furiosa is a wonderful example of the perfect feminist character.

Not really. Feminism is sexism. The argument that it is about "empowering" women and having "pride in oneself" is really no different than other 'isms'. Hell, do white supremacists usually rally about the inferiority of other groups? No. They talk about "pride" instead. But the underlying layer of animosity towards other groups is there and the motivating reason. Same jazz. The only difference is that one is stigmatized more than the other.

This entire social topic is veering into "not forum appropriate" conversation, but there is relation to it and the attempt of destroying "gender" norms in society.

I'd personally go with the first two Alien films but yeah, this is a good choice.

True! Ripley is an amazing example of a powerful feminist character.

Any argument that seeks to equate the attempts of a one-down race, religion, gender, etc. to acquire balance with the race/religion/gender, etc. in a one-up position with similar methods used by the one-up race/religion/gender, etc.to retain their power over those in the one-down position is based on a massive (and socially destructive) logical fallacy. That will be my last word on the subject because you and I both know you're not really interested in acknowledging the truth of that.

The other way this film is 'woke' is that Furiosa is disabled but no one ever talks about it. It's just there. The wokeness!!!

True but there exists parallels. I personally do not buy into any social movement clamoring for equality but identifying itself as different. It is more about changing the power dynamic in another group's favor. Either way, I don't really want to go further with this as it is a pointless exercise arguing such things and it is not something I care to spend more time arguing about. I rather talk Blu-rays.

I just don't like the fact that people prop up Furiosa as some beacon of feminism and completely disregard Max's contribution. I've even read some reviews that basically say Max might as well have not even been in the movie. Both the man haters and the woman haters see this movie as some sort of feminist statement but I just don't see it.

Uh, yes, that is what racists do. It's inherent to being a supremacist is to say you are better than other races.

Anyway, I agree it has Feminist overtones and it is weird that so much lead time is shared with Furiosa when Mad Max has been the lone series lead 99% of the other movies. However he is integral to the plot, has most of the best moments, and almost all of the action beats. It just so happens Furiosa is a pretty cool character, played by a kick ass actress, and is let loose more than the other antagonists of the series. Everyone has their moment to shine in MMFR (Nux!), its not some grand conspiracy, its just a more modern (woke I guess) take on it.
