we'll see, if I could get some Focus 220 II towers from audiogon for $1700-2200

http://www.dynaudio.com/eng/systems/...focus220II.php

these would be up there with the Forest.... the bass on the first series was so deep, they had to remake them so they we more balanced.... and I hear the new MK2(II) is just insane for a $3500 speakers

OMG yeah that would be nice, make sure you get the Anthem Receiver and a great amp if you do so.

Love the Focus from Dyn look and all and I know it sounds absolutely Fabulous And I know they are up there with the Forrest judging by their specs and the price of the bookshelf Focus 140 matching the Model One.

I just have to audition them but I doubt I'll find Focus 220 II in the price range of Audiogon, I look at service also you see but I'll have to audition them.

Sttaf may very well be the Answer for me.

yeah, they would want the Anthem and an Anthem Amp.... these are power hungry little tikes... but from here on up, the Dyns love Tubes..... although I think a solid state amp would be better in my situation....

I would recommend the MCA amp in this case as the PVA are not all that powerful it gives 140 into 4 ohms but as I said I'm leaning more and more towards 3 channel amp Anthem MCA 30 180WPC at 8ohms and 265 WPC at 4 ohms all channels driven.

yeah, we will see...... have to get there first of course.

When you said you look at service also, did you mean customer service? IF that is what you meant, I read on AVS that a guy bought some used Dyns, and they were damaged, so he sent them back to Dynaudio NA and they repaired them back to their original state, even with the original tweeter that they no longer used, it took them 10 weeks, but thats not bad, I guess the guy has had them for a while now too, and said they are in great condition.

I'm looking more like 10 days if you see what I mean Totem is right there and the dealer is right on the way to work. All that beeing said it's not bad at all but did he pay anything for the repair, was this asecond hand speaker? I've seen some Focus 220 II on audigon for 3100$.

Honestly I would hate to send my speakers back for 10 weeks it's 20% of a year. I know I'm picky but Ihave seen to many horror stories, I know it's not the case with Dyns but I would not last 10 weeks without speakers.

If I find a deal on them used from the Dyns dealer in MTL then fine I'll jump on em and get some 110 as surrounds.

Isn't the Totems Center and tower combo a better match in HT to what the Dyns are compare to Dyns Towers?

What about the audience 72 not so old of a model and hell they still have the audience 42 on their website I can get them for 2000$

Understand that I believe the tweeter actually had to come from Denmark, then make its way to Chicago for repair then to the owner..... that would sound about right....

the focus center is supposed to be really nice, and can pair with a lot of the other speakers, even the contours, the excite is just a bit small... but I hear it is pretty good, I will be listening to it once I get closer to that point. but roomer is that even though it is small, it pack a punch.

the audience is great, but its hard to drive, and HAS TO have an amp. But I hear they are great.

Wow just got 461 Ocean Boulvard and put the SACD in 2 channel to see the quality of orginal recording and it is absolutely fantastic on the C-500 I tried Dire strait in 2 channel lossles SACD and again it's very impressive I had tried it in 5.1 surround mix but the 2 channel stereo lossless track gives you the real feel of what it should sound like and my god does this sound light years ahead of a CD.

Now I wish they would use SACD or DVD audio for all the music they sell from now on I mean now I realize how much loss there is from a cd.

I don't feel like changing my speakers anymore no seriously I will but I can say that the C-500 sure like great quality recording, it really gives the feeling that you are listening to a much better system when the recording is good.

Awesome.....

Heard the Studio 60s and the Monitor 11s on McIntosh 2-channel amp and a Rotel Integrated CD player. Not impressed they sounded coloured and Dark. Not as neutral as the Energys. Maybe it was the Tubes,.... but I doubt it.

Also heard the B&W 802Ds and 804S's, the 802s were on McIntosh Mono tubes with a Mc-Preamp and CD player. the 804s were on a NAD 765 AVR,..... I asked the dealer if he will sell me the floor model NAD, he said come back when I am ready and we will work something out... YEAYAA

I think the Energys are better and better everytime I hear something else.

Sweet mother I felt that the break down of the detaild and staging of the Monitors 9 just don't match my C-500 and I'm glad you experience better sound with your C-300 than you did with the Monitor 11.

Seriously I don't doubt what yo are saying one bit, I had mentionned that Mission M33i at 500$ sounded better than the Monitor 9 priced at 800$ and you sort of confirm what I experienced.

Just for your info I raised the volume all the way to -10db when I listen to Clapton and My goodness when he was singing walking down the Road man I could hear him breathing and scratching the guitar with such great detail it's almost to good to be true but it did not quite equal the Rainmaker nor the Staff but man I appreciate my speakers.

id say the detail from the Energys and the Monitors were the same, but the mid-range was coloured and dark sounding. Rhett said when he heard the Studio 100s he thought they sounded like they were in a cave, that is about accurate. IDK, to me they just didn't have it all. I think PSB and Energy are better speakers. Funny thing is they didn't sound bright at all, but they sounded dark. Also the Monitor 11s were too close to each other, and I was about 6 feet back and they were about 5-6 feet apart. The Studios were about 8-9 feet apart and they still sounded coloured. I don't know but I would not trade in the Energys for Paradigms....

That is cool about the Clapton..... I need to get an Oppo so I can buy some SACDs and listen to lossless audio.....

Oh and the 802Ds, over-rated and over-priced. I didn't think they were worth twice the price of the 804S's.

Actually the Sttafs and the Excites both were not far from the 804s or 802s IMO. They were surely equally or more neutral, and the detail of the Mid-range and highs of the Totems and Dyns were right there at least 90-95% of what the $10,000 802Ds were. That is how good Totem and Dyns ENTRY level speakers are.....

How far from the back wall were they setup man the setu penvironment is important and Honestly when I lstened to them yes you could hear the details but somewhat not like energy type of thing I cannot explain how to say that I meant like it's more obvious with the Energy . I listened to the Monitors with a Marantz 4004.

Anyhow I think Energy beats them hands down.

Honestly sound can change alot from one receiver to another I can tell ya that the Kef IQ sounded like crap did I mention Dead flat boring on an Onkyo 608 but sounded quite pleasing on the HK 3600. Where was the sound coming from on the Onkyo?

I mean it was the same speaker on both receivers but sounded completely different.

I believe in pairing your stuff with what you think sounds best to you ears.

That I don't doubt that 1 second I have yet to hear something that good in the 2000$ price range.

Phenomenal speakers indeed

they were 4-5 feet off the wall, and there was nothing blocking them in, there were some room treatments, but it seemed like a normal living room setup. Like I said they were on McIntosh tube amp and Rotel integrated CD player.

I heard the Kef iQ 90s on a Denon and thought they were very good, then the XQ40s on a Pioneer Elite and they were too bright, but ver detailed, so yea, I know what you mena.

Rhett said his Dyn Focus 110s are as good as the 802Ds and maybe even better... that is saying something....
