I've got one of these but I keep forgetting which one because it's not immediately obvious. But I think I have 5 but struggle to find an actual 3D blu-ray for part 4 as opposed to a 3-D anaglyph blu-ray.

eBay, I got mine from Hamilton books, but they seem to just have 5 at the moment, 4 sometimes just listed as Final Destination, it was suppose to be the last one, mine is actually destino final covers Spanish, but everything else English.

Just some “3D-ish” BRs I watched recently if anyone is curious …

Twixt is an interesting experimental project written & directed by Francis Ford Coppola starring Val Kilmer, Bruce Dern & Elle Fanning. The film is 2d with two short 3D segments indicated onscreen by a superimposed hand putting on and taking off a pair of 3D glasses. The film itself is a fun little thriller about a washed-up writer stumbling across supernatural murders in a small town. The writer has dreams about the victims where he talks to Edgar Allan Poe. (!?) Not a very successful film imho, but fun and with 2 nice medium-strength 3D segments lasting about 2 minutes each. Coppola experiments a lot with color filters and parts of the film look really otherworldly and cool. I’d give it 3/5 for the two 3D segments and the oddity of the project.

Spartacus is a 2D television series created by Sam Raimi that originally ran on the Starz network 2010-2013. The 13-disc set includes all 4 seasons including the 3D “Ring of Fire” battle sequence that was made to promote the release of the series on home media and displayed in the Starz booth at the July 2011 Comicon convention. The 3D in this segment is a surprisingly good medium-strength conversion considering the year it was made. The segment is accessed in the Extras section of season 2 “Gods of the Arena.” The series itself has tons of really over-the-top fakey CGI gore and nudity, so I love it. I’d give this $30 Amazon purchase a 3.5/5 for the one cool 3D segment and the hours of entertainment provided in this huge package.

I know, I know. This Starchaser copy was a hail mary purchase from the Australian guy with all those terrible conversions on eBay, but it had 1 review from someone with knowledge of the source material and the side-by-side format who gave it a passing grade, so I gave it a shot. Here’s my eBay review of it …

Starchaser 3D side-by-side. Very fast shipping with tracking. 7 days from payment to California delivery. Viewed on LG OLED65E6P 3D TV. Picture quality from this Japanese VHD video disc copy is very poor 1980s SD 480i picture, as expected. Unfortunately, flashing between left/right eyes renders disc unwatchable. Strong 3D as in source disc, but incompatible timing between modern TV refresh rates and source disc frame rate results in judder that cannot be resolved. Can’t recommend this one.”

I have that Spartacus box. My second most fave TV series ever. Watched it 3x. But I have not yet checked out that 3D extra. Thanks for bringing it up.

You got good taste Elsinore for liking Spartacus too. Just watched that 5-10 minute glorious 3D arena battle. No pops but a bit of negative parallax here and there. A solid Medium like you said.

We may be in a minority of people who think Spartacus is in good taste.

You found two copies of Hobbs & Shaw 3D with slips, at a thrift store? Is that the German release?

I've owned that set for years and had no idea there was 3D content in it, thanks! I watched the first couple of seasons as they aired on Starz, but never kept up with it. More reason now to watch it sooner.

I re-watched Sanctum 3D this weekend. I got the idea to watch since I saw Avatar 2 and Titanic in 3D this month in theaters. Cameron executive produced Sanctum. I hadn't seen it in years and it has NICE 3D! You'd think a movie that mostly takes place in dark claustrophobic caves might not have very good 3D, but it works really well. Makes it more so feel like you're "there". Lots of good depth and crystal clear picture. Filmed natively with proprietary 3D cameras co-developed by Cameron. Overall it's a really good adventure-survival thriller. Based on a true story as well.

Apartment 1303. Medium. Nice depth and great layering here and there. Not rconsistent throughout to get to a solid medium-to-strong for me. But when it does it is glorious, like those shots of the house with the garden and trees in front, building backdrops with a train in the middle and a post in the front. It's change of scenes is very effective with those 3D in-between sceneries. Possibly because of tight quarters inside an apartment, the 3D is quite limited but it does best of what it can to stage 3D effect - producing nice layers such as a pillow in the front, the balcony railings. and even cast emmbers talking outside of the TV. The hallways provide nice shots of depth just enought not to make it too obvious that perspective is lost.

Movie. Well, Rebecca de Mornay is there and she was a hottie back then for all you young peeps. The other cast members are also eye candies although mascara poop gets in the way sometimes especially in the beginning. Love the story of a horror movie that does not scare but draws you to the plot itself. If you want to be scared, this is not for you.

This is my #1 3D animated film (although A Turtle’s Tale and Legend of the Guardians are pretty much tied with it). Please let us know your thoughts!

Needed to counter all my mild/medium 3D choices lately, so rewatched Mojin. Best 3D in my collection hands down. Strong throughout with several really jaw-dropping sequences
[Show spoiler]

like when the Equinox Flower is activated and the screen turns red bringing all the dead soldiers back to life.

Really fun movie with top-notch 3D.
