I do want to see that, but its on a growing list of movies I keep stalling on. Part of the reason is I don't drive and the nearest theater is 30 minutes away. Another is that when a movie I'm interested in finally hits home video, I usually grab it, but then it sits in my collection forever because I get so easily distracted.

Reading is a habit. I have certain times I set aside to read. I also have a large library of ebooks, along with a Kindle Oasis, a Kindle Fire HD, and the Kindle app on my phone. So, whenever I find myself waiting, I can read.

I will add that I got rid of most of my paper books some years ago. I have since been buying a small library of good quality books that I've read and love. I found that having a lot of books around that "I'm going to get to one day" was detrimental to reading. So now, I use the library for books, and buy ebooks if I cannot get them through my library. Saves a lot of money and space.

I still read everyday. What I find is that if I really enjoy a book I typically read it within 2-3 days. Books that are generic or simply not written well I tend to take 2-3 weeks. About 7 years ago I bought a kindle and no longer buy physical copies which saves a ton of space and money.

You should check it out when you do get a chance. I bet you'll like it.

I'm at Denny's for the AYCE pancakes. I decided I would get my usual Diet Coke instead of just having water. The soda is $4? Water is free but I do love my soda.
In other news, apparently Floyd Mayweather bought a McLaren, a Rolls Royce Phantom and a Rolls Royce Ghost all in the same day. #NotLikeUs

You have to literally schedule time for the things you know you truly prioritize in life. Even if it's "leisure"*, you have to treat them with as much reverence as an occupation that keeps the lights on.

Conversely, you also need to delete/seriously scale down those habits which you know don't enrich you long term: Social media, mindlessly browsing online, excess screen time in general (which has probably dulled you to reading "old school" physical books).

Sounds goofy, but you might do well to make actual daily, weekly, monthly, yearly schedules, and physical, written ones at that. You need short-term and long-term goals...and you need to do some soul-searching on what you truly want to get to in this lifetime....in all aspects....and get to it, cause you have less time than you think.

* Hobbies that enrich your mind, spirit, and body are just as essential as any other activity....maybe even more so.

I had lunch at Denny's yesterday with some church friends, and it was pretty good, though the food got cold fairly quick. Part of that was my own fault, though; I kept chatting and repeatedly forgot to eat. By the end, I left about a third of my chicken-fried steak behind. Usually, I take what I haven't finished home, but it was mostly cold and I was already full anyway.

As for soda, I've tried a few diet drinks over the years, but all of them left a horrible aftertaste in my mouth. I did drink standard Pepsi as if it were water, probably for about 2 years straight. This left me more heavy than usual, and starting at age 40 my back wound up giving me so many problems I couldn't even stand up for more than a couple of minutes. Eventually I switched to Sprite, my reason being that while it still contained sugar, the clear color probably meant it lacked any super-concentrated syrup. Even though I couldn't exercise, the drink switch alone has led to my losing 35 pounds, in the past 8 months alone.

When I asked him what they were rated in terms of decibals, he said that he wasn't sure, that he JUST ordered and thinks they were .5. Mine are like 23, but maybe he was using different measurements or just couldn't remember. Anyway, implies he just ordered a bulk of some random model off the internet without any criteria or safety standard of the company (because there probably are none). So important was not letting me "win." I let it go. Smiled for him. Will see when they arrive.

If you don't fine the "company approved" plugs any good, perhaps you could check with HR to see about using the ones you already own.

That's the plan.

Edit: "Company-approved" muffs, by the way. Not plugs. We already have plugs, but I don't like them.

Tonight's movie; Equalizer 3, Ferrari or Dead Reckoning Part 1? Right now I'm leaning toward Equalizer 3. I saw all three in the theater so this will be the second viewing for whichever film I choose.

I got a faulty bag of potato chips about a week ago at Walmart. I have been getting their Great Value brand and I've enjoyed this but this bag was pretty much all smaller pieces. There aren't any nice-sized chips that are perfect for dipping. I think tonight I might make some nachos which will be emptying a can of refried beans into a saucepan, placing saucepan over medium heat and then adding some shredded cheese. I made them once before and they were muy delicioso.

When I read about the faulty bag of chips all kinds of things were going through my mind. I was a bit let down reading what the issue was.

I used to be a Pepsi fiend, first regular then Diet Pepsi. After I learned I have Type II Diabetes I knew the soda had to go. Juice was out of the question because of the sugar but I was never a juice guy anyway. Someone offered me a seltzer water, which I'd previously totally dismissed (didn't know what it was), and I've since become addicted to it. I think the main thing that made me like it so much was the carbonation. I'm able to drink water with the fizz. Maybe it's all psychological but it replaced soda for me and I don't even miss it.

Wish they had an official video for this song where they're in the studio just passin' the mic back and forth

RZA
Cock back my tongue like a hammer, my head is like
A nickel-plated bammer, spit forty-five caliber grammar
At the speed of wind makes you bleed within
Crack your skull, without penetratin' your skin

Read the last few days:

Really good I think considering most of my reading this year had not happened at home. Applied for another full-time job, time for bed!

Just logging out of Chase online banking and thinking that I often get pre-approval notices for various credit cards. I have three right now and I've been thinking about applying for another one to increase my available credit/debt ratio. The last credit card I added was a second Capital One card, this one having a $2,000 limit, and it helped my score jump up. The only thing giving me pause is the hit my score could take upon a credit check if I did apply for a card.
