That is how I pronounce it (in my head). I don't believe I have ever referred to the place verbally.

Will cex take a steelbook without the j card (and thus the barcode)?

Yes.

If it's on their system, they don't need a barcode.

The sticker they print out, ends up being the barcode they scan anyway.

The shop name is lowercase so it's cex not C-E-X.

So I've taken a risk and ordered The Incredible Hulk steelbook online from cex. Aside from the obvious issues around what condition is it going to be in cex have only 1 listing for it online, however I know there are at least 2 UK editions floating around out there (Play.com and Zavvi lenticular) so no idea what I'm going to actually receive...

I think I'm trying to invoke sods law by finally caving and buying the blu-ray steelbook just for Universal to finally announce a UK 4K steelbook (one can hope!)

Sometimes, I had CEX reject a steelbook because of the missing J card as it contained the age rating for a film. Legally they cannot sell the title without an age rating so technically they where correct. However they had 5-8 steelbooks to buy none of which had j card or age rating. Luckly for me someone saw me trying to sell and offered me the same price CEX would have sold it.

They also refused to accept titles with German / Aussie age ratings I dont know if they are clamping down on this our if it was just my local store.

It is not cex is is C E X it stands for Computer Exchange which was the original name. The full company title is CeX LTD is trading as CeX Entertainment Exchange.

No matter what the ruddy advert says it is not "sex" this is the Gif / Jiff debate all over again

Regardless of what the acronym stands for, on the sign it's written lowercase as cex ('sex' or even 'keks'). That's all I'm saying. Take it up with the company if it bothers you.

I've been using this stock checker for CeX, as their own is far too cumbersome

I always say 'gif' but I know it is supposed to be 'jif'. Just like I know it is supposed to be 'cex' but I call it CEX. I'd never call it 'cex'.

Starburst will always be Opal Fruits in my house, and I'll never forgive them for replacing the lemon one!

I've heard it's supposed to be jif but I don't believe it. It stands for "graphic interchange format." Nobody pronounces graphics as jraphics. So as far as I'm concerned it's gif.

I saw a headline the other day saying that Mars were changing Snickers back to Marathon in the UK. Might be bollocks but it would be cool. Edit: It's a limited run in Morrisons.

On topic:

I recently took delivery of the Henry: Portrait of a Seriel Killer steelbook from CEX. It was in very good condition and even had the display card thing that's stuck to them when they're new. It's my third CEX order and all have been fine. It's handy for out of print releases.

That would be amazeballs, but I bet you it's similar to Nik-Naks bringing back Scampi & Lemon and it's temporary.
