About 45 mins. But you'd never think that once you start getting into it, the time just goes by so quickly.

Damn that's going to be a lot of TV over 15 seasons . Anyway, I just bought Season 1 from play.com for £5.69 (with student discount ).

Will report back in a few days/weeks .

That's brilliant! You will love it for sure! First night I watched like the first four episodes! First episode is about 80 mins and then every episode varies from about 42-47 minutes. All in all it's about 240 hours of television!!! And yeah, let us know what you think!

True that. That event was very moving indeed, although I didn't like they handled some of the other events of that sort...

Amen to that! One of the only shows I can watch without looking at the timer to see how long is left! It's just so special. And scenes like the end of the season 1 finale give you such a warm feeling. Remember once you start watching you'll definitely want to buy the complete collection and it'll go so fast!

I can't believe this show STILL hasn't made it to BD! Oh please, Warner Brothers - make it happen!

The entire series run is airing on the POP channel in the U.S., not sure if the episodes are in HD as I don't subscribe to that channel on my cable system.

Pop quietly last week began to run the popular medical drama “E.R.,” which Schwartz says is not available elsewhere on TV or on any subscription-video-on-demand service. Schwartz said Pop is seeing viewers eager to watch episodes of the series once again as well as those who have never watched any of it.

Well, at least it's being aired - it really is a terrific show. It was truly must-see TV for me for probably the first ten seasons. I only watched sporadically after that as the changing cast didn't have the same magic and connection for me, but I picked it back up late in the 14th season and all of the 15th and final season. I do have the series on DVD and it's one I can rewatch over and over because it was so well-done and the episodes are just as gripping for me now as they were 20 years ago. Perhaps the fact that it's being shown anywhere will nudge Warner Bros towards a BD release!

I used to love E.R. but finally had to stop watching long before it actually ended because it just got so bad and really overstayed its welcome. As such, I hadn't seen it for a long time until recently discovering reruns on the Pop channel. Man, I'd almost forgotten just how great those early seasons were. The original cast (barring Laura Innes, who still grates on my nerves as much today as she did back then) is so terrific together. Unfortunately, Pop only broadcasts in SD. But if it ever got released on Blu-ray, I would definitely pick up those early years.

Xfinity has an HD feed for Pop. And ER is on right now.

Of course, Xfinity bounces everything down to 720p, IIRC, so if you're expecting Blu quality you're probably going to be disappointed.

Ah, okay. I have Dish and there's only an SD feed. Apparently, it's the same for Direct TV as well. I wonder why there's no HD feed for those providers.

NBC is considering a revival:

Maybe we'll see a Blu-ray release then if it happens...

Very easy to make a revival of ER just have it pick up with Mark Greens Daughter as the main doc if that actress still even acts

Y'know, at this point, that's the only good I see in this neverending stream of bankrupt revivals... the originals get nice new Blu releases, or at least get completed on DVD.

The horrible X-Files event series got us the original series on Blu. The horrible CHiPS movie got us the original series completed on DVD.

If only Fox would try to horribly reboot MASH, because I want the show on Blu, dammit!

It would be so great to have ER on Blu-ray. After all these years and the endless string of hospital dramas, I still consider ER the best. However the Blu-dream has a few obstacles.

For starters, it has too many seasons. How many potential buyers has an expensive boxset with 15 seasons?

If you release all seasons separately at the same time, most people would buy from season 1 to the end of the Mark Greene era, leaving several seasons collecting dust on the stores.

If they release on a season by season basis, they probably would see diminishing returns each season, probably leading to a Looney Tunes on Blu-ray scenario.

Another problem, for some reason the show lost popularity the last few years. You rarely hear about ER anymore. I guess most ER fans get their fix via all these copycats. I can't. I just have to laugh when someone compares Grey's Anatomy to ER. But I guess for most people that's enough placebo effect to completely forget about ER.

Honestly, they should release just the golden era on Blu-ray, I guess most people would consider a boxset with seasons 1-8 all the ER they need on Blu, I know I would.

My wallet is ready to buy the entire series on Blu-ray! I totally agree that the golden era ended with the death of Mark Greene at the end of Season 8, but there's still some good stuff after that as well. I did drift away from the show for a little while around Season 12, but it's still one of my all-time favorites that I can literally watch all the time. Revival or not, I really hope WB gets off its butt to make a BD release happen!

I know what you mean. In the same way I can't really enjoy any time travel series the way I do Quantum Leap, I also haven't been able to really enjoy a medical drama since ER. It just did it so well, especially the early years, that to me any medical series since just feels underwhelming. I don't try to compare one TV show to another but sometimes you just can't help it when something was such a great example of its genre the way ER was.

'ER' Heads to Hulu in Exclusive Streaming Pact

Quote:
The doctors of County General Hospital have found a new home.

Hulu has nabbed the exclusive streaming rights to ER, bringing the entire classic medical drama to streaming for the first time.

in the pact with Warner Bros. Domestic Television, Hulu has licensed all 15 seasons (or more than 330 episodes) of the series. They will begin streaming on Hulu on Sunday, Jan. 14.

ER premiered on NBC in 1994 and helped to accelerate the careers of George Clooney, Noah Wyle and Julianna Margulies. It was created by Michael Crichton and executive produced by John Wells with Steven Spielberg's Amblin Television and Constant c Productions. It became the longest-running primetime medical drama on television and was nominated for 124 Emmy Awards, the most of any drama, and winning 23 Emmys.

Clooney, who is now in business with Hulu on a new Catch-22 series, said of the news, "It was such an honor to be a part of this show. I was lucky to have worked with so many writers, actors and directors all at the top of their game. Most importantly I've made friends for a lifetime. I'm excited it will finally be streaming on Hulu."
