Jurassic Park
A.I.
The Lost World
Minority Report
War of the Worlds
Adventures of Tin Tin
War Horse
Catch Me If You Can
Munich
Saving Private Ryan
Schindler's List
Jaws
and not a particularly big fan of Lincoln. First Spielberg film I didn't really enjoy

Still not seen; Empire of the Sun, The Color Purple

A bit disappointed by the lack of extras here. I'm glad the movie is finally coming to BD, but I expected more than just the same SD extras that came with the DVD for a 20th Anniversary edition. If not more featurettes on the making of the movie, then surely they could have provided some sort of supplemental material about the Holocaust, and Schindler. I don't think this will be a Day 1 purchase. I'll probably just get a UV copy from someone here, and wait till the BD goes down in price. The Digibook is perhaps the only thing that might change might mind because at least that has something extra included.

I agree, and disagree. While Spielberg made it a point of saying "I just didn't want to knock down any of the fourth walls, because it's experiential, and to suddenly see how it was all pulled together I think would take you out of how hard we worked to put you inside of the Holocaust from the point of view of the survivors." I think there could have been a few bonus features looking at the lives of Schindler or Goeth. However, if the film itself is meant to be the place in which our focus is meant to be placed, then I think this is the rare film that we all should make that concession to. Just to have the film itself on one, not flipable disc with bumped up A/V quality will be enough for me. Plus, the features that are already included are more than enough. I'd rather hear from the (at the time) surviving Schindlerjuden than see a behind the scenes documentary on how they attracted Liam Neeson to the project anyday.

Top Ten Spielberg:

1. Raiders of the Lost Ark
2. Jaws
3. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
4. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
5. Schindler's List
6. E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial
7. War of the Worlds
8. Saving Private Ryan
9. Duel
10. Jurassic Park

Honorable Mention:
Poltergeist (since Spielberg was the unofficial director of sorts)

I want a stand-alone Blu-ray of the first Jurassic Park film, simply because I did not care for the other two movies and I do not want that flimsy box set with all of them together.

You need to see Empire of the Sun. I am still waiting on that to drop below $20.

It's £8 in the UK,about $13 but of course then you would have shipping and it is only the amaray not a digibook.

You know us bluray-ians? We love our lists! On a side note, I have yet to see Lincoln, Always, The Color Purple, 1941, Duel, The Sugarland Express and Amistad. I'm dying to see Empire of the Sun again, I haven't seen it in years. I would like to see if my original assessment from when I was a teenager would hold up (probably not).

Here we go.

My Ranking of Spielberg Films:

10. Catch Me If You Can 9/10
11. Close Encounters of the Third Kind 9/10

I got to have the digibook. I think the only U.S. digibooks that I have missed out on are Silverado, Easy Rider, and E.T.

A DigiBook sale would hit the spot. I'd love to get my hands on the 300 DigiBook (I missed the $10.99 price last year), and the Empire of the Sun DigiBook. Not to mention Bonnie and Clyde.

One unusual aside about Spielberg is that I have never been particularly attracted to any of the female characters in his movies. There are a handful that I find attractive in offbeat ways (the spunky Marion Ravenwood in Raiders of the Lost Ark, for example), but I never think of the females in the Spielberg movies as sexy in an outright sense, like the Bond girls or other such female characters are. Before anyone flames this post, I'll clarify that I understand that the focus of Spielberg movies has never been to objectify women in any way, and that this is one of the reasons why his movies rightfully have such a universal appeal. I just find it strange that, with all of the movies that he has made over the years, I have rarely found any of the female characters attractive.

Many of Spielberg's movies seem to have that childhood sense of wonder, as though they were made by a bunch of schoolboys in a "No Girls Allowed" treehouse, and I've always wondered if the lack of "sexy" females in his movies is purposeful in that regard. Then again, maybe it's just pure chance, and the women in his movies just coincidentally never seem to fit my tastes.

A Schindler's List thread is probably the least-appropriate place for this observation, but the Spielberg movie lists discussion got me thinking about it.

If the present prices hold on A Star is Born (1976), What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?, and A Streetcar Named Desire they will be mine on payday in a couple weeks.

A take on Schindler's List I don't necessarily agree with.

Also, here Spielberg reflects about the recurring theme of fatherhood in his films.

Wait... there is a UV copy for Schindler's List?!?!?!?

Who the hell would want to watch this film "on the go" on a tablet?

Other than that, I may have to get this one. One of the few Spielberg films I have yet to see.

You should probably get a clue. UV can be played on your TV via the PS3, 360, PC, and several other devices too.

I know what the service is. I have an account and watch many films on my TV. I am just saying, who would want to watch this upsetting film about the holocaust on a tablet while traveling? I don't know, that doesn't compute with me.

No, your initial post made it sound like UV is only used for on the go use. Obviously it's not. And there's really no need to single out Schindler's List anyway. You can say the same thing about a number of movies that have UV copies, and in that respect I let Lynch speak for me:
