Only reason I can think for it. They need to get these Iron Man figures out ASAP to be able to sell while the film is in serious BLOCKBUSTER SWING. TDKR has come and gone already. So, everyone who wants one will still want one whether it's now or later. I get the feeling that Hot Toys is taking a pretty big gamble for the "impulse buy" crowd between the theatrical and Blu-ray releases of Iron Man 3. That means a "no time to waste" kind of attitude.

EDIT: Of course, this theory gets shot straight out of the window when I come to realize that MY AVENGERS IRON MAN MARK VII 1/6TH SCALE FIGURE HAS ALSO BEEN PUSHED BACK TO JUNE AS WELL!

I'm wondering if someone could answer a few questions I have. How limited are the runs of each figure? Do prices typically drop? Do sales continue once the figures are ready to ship or is it a pre-order only type of sale? Is Sideshow the only dealer in North America?

I'm thinking about picking up the Iron Man Mark XLII, but I'm not completely sold on it. Has there been any other announcements on what figures will be part of the Diecast series? I've only seen Mark XLII, Iron Patriot and the Heartbreaker Armor.

Prices almost never go down. I'm not sure if they release actual production numbers or not.

Stock generally just depends on the popularity of the character, but it seems like they've been increasing the runs lately. Preordering is usually the best way to go as retailers other than Sideshow will raise prices in response to demand.

Yeah they don't really go on sale from my experience. If anything if a character is popular enough and sells out and hits the secondary market you'll end up paying way more in most cases so it's almost smarter to just go for it if you want it. Sideshow is the official Hot Toys distributor in the U.S. but you can get them other places such as Big Bad Toy Store or Alter Ego Comics. As far as how many figures are produced I don't think they ever actually say but generally unless it's a limited edition or some kind of exclusive they seem to last a while.

I learned to keep an eye on Sideshow's stock. Once a figure is sold out at Sideshow BBTS starts raising the prices. I ended up paying more for Captain America.

as with all things (just like comics in the 80s or 90s) once something becomes profitable, they will start to flood the market, although the earlier versions of Iron Man go for ridiculous prices on ebay

very very few Hot Toys figures go cheap after release. The ones I can think of are New Goblin and Reeves Superman. Iron Man prices usually double

At least we can still scramble to find available funds when the figure is released that is if you're on flex pay.

Oh. my. God.

A new product has been revealed and it has nothing to do with Iron Man 3. The Joker (1989) is coming soon in a new model: Mime Version and has Jack Nicholson's likeness (obviously).

The only detail revealed besides photos is that it will have the Parallel Eyeball Rolling system.

Yeah, I also saw that...I had to pass as I really want the War Machine Mark II die cast. If the Joker had two head sculpts then I would've considered it. I was quite surprised that they chose the Joker again for the next DX.

its a guarantee that for an Iron Man release, the price generally goes up

Hot Toys has announced Road Block from G.I. Joe: Retaliation based on Dwayne Johnson's likeness. I use the term likeness lightly as it really does not look like him in a lot of angles.

Images in the spoiler tags because big:

And here are photos of The Joker: Mime Version

Again in spoiler tags because too big:

Yeah that sculpt of The Rock as Road Block could use some work. Something just seems off on it. Mime Joker looks great and I've been tempted to place an order for it but not sure yet.

I wish they'd finish up the remaining figures from The Dark Knight Trilogy as we're pretty close to having all the main characters. Blake and Ra's are the main ones left unless they decide to do a Miranda/Talia. The only other ones I can think of are Gordon in his normal outfit and a possible re-release of the Batman Begins Batsuit.

Roadblock is weird. Some photos look great, some look nothing like The Rock. I think the overall head shape is off, as the likeness looks better if you cover his forehead and up. Still odd though.

1. All products have a limited production number. It's part of the licensing contract. But with the world wide success of Hot Toys, it's hard for customers to keep trade. Only Hot Toys themselves know.

2. Prices typically hold up with these high end collectibles. Some of them remain the same price like the black costume Spider-man 3 figure. Some figures suffer from quality control issues and became hard to sell or suffers a prices drop. It happened with the DX version of The Dark Knight Batman, Captain America and Ironman MK3.
And there were some figures like the 2 Bruce Lee figures which HT just pumped out too much. It was basically the same head sculpt but with different accessories and clothing and they were sold pretty much around the same time.

3&4. Sales continue after pre-order period while supplies last. Just look around the web and you will see there are quite a few online retailers that sell Hot Toys figures other than Sideshow. Corner store comics, BBTS, Super Power Collectibles to name a few.

5. I think you've pretty much covered all the diecast Ironmen announced so far. I do think Hot Toys will be announcing more. Check their facebook page. I do think they showed teaser pics of 3 Ironmen die cast at the same time. They were all Ironman variants, as they were a ridiculous amount of Ironman armors in the movie, I lost track of which is which.

Robocop is a classic film and the Hot Toys 1/6th scale figure is pretty cool looking but I don't know if I'd buy him. I'd probably only consider it if it was really cheap which is not likely.
