I actually think Nolan would be awful for a Bond movie. I like Nolan's movies, but I like his movies for a very different reason than I like Bond movies.

Nolan is horrendous at shooting action scenes. They are so dull. He sure doesnt seem to like putting in any humor in his movies, so Im guessing he isnt a very funny guy himself (who so serious?), and overall his directing style is VERY subdued.

I like where they were heading with Skyfall, and Im afraid Nolan would bang out this really serious Bond movie. I liked that Skyfall was a nice mix of the seriousness of the newer movies, and the light heartedness of the older ones, so it felt refreshing after the very serious Quantum. I dont know if we need another Bond movie that takes itself way too seriously.

Default Not overjoyed... here are some suggestions...

I'd much rather see Nolan helm the project (cue everyone screaming about how he can't execute action sequences properly or some such complaint(s)!

If not how about Danny Boyle, Neil Marshall or Guy Ritchie (yeah, yeah ...I know, but his creativity has been coming back ever since he dumped Madonna. And for the record, I'm not talking about "Sherlock Holmes" Guy Ritchie, I'm talking about "RockNRolla" Guy Ritchie.)

Or how about Matthew Vaughn, who uhh... well you know... the guy who got Daniel Craig the role of James Bond with a little audition reel called "Layer Cake".

They should get Rian Johnson to direct Bond 24.

The Refn idea has me terrified. Please no, no, no.

John Logan has done a lot of scripts though so its cool hes returning.

Whoever directs they better not laze out like the past couple of directors and give us more than one of 2 decent action scenes per movie.
Hell, Hire Justin Lin. If he can make movies like Fast Five and Fast & Furious 6 out of the F&F franchise I can't imagine how great he could do with a Bond film.

From Deadline:

Quote:
Sam Mendes Back In The Picture To Direct Next James Bond Film

Sony Pictures and MGM have started talks for Sam Mendes to return and direct Daniel Craig in the next installment of the James Bond franchise. Mendes helmed the last installment, Skyfall, an audience-pleasing film that grossed over $1.1 billion worldwide to become the biggest Bond film and the eighth-highest-grossing film of all time. John Logan is writing the next film.

There has been much speculation on whether Mendes would come back — right now he’s knee-deep preparing for the West End launch of the stage musical Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, which will then move to Broadway. That happened because Mendes bowed out, claiming that musical and King Lear were his new priorities and producers Michael Wilson and Barbra Broccoli seemed resigned and they moved on. Recently, he and the producers got back in touch. While Mendes’ first love is theater, it became clear that the producers wanted him and he wanted to return, and the only thing standing in the way were these stage commitments that Mendes felt obligated to do. So, they’ve decided to wait for him to work through those other commitments, and he’s now making a deal to start production probably next year.

What’s the hurry? Craig doesn’t seem to have aged since he took the Bond role; he’s always in rocking shape. While Mendes looked doubtful, a bunch of names have been floated in the press, from Ang Lee to Nicolas Winding Refn and Christopher Nolan. I’m not sure there is much validity to any of them, but now it is a moot point, because Mendes will be the director of the next Bond. A Mendes return should tickle the 007 crowd. Like Craig’s first outing Casino Royale, Skyfall scratched beneath the stone killer/lover Bond facade with an intelligent spy story that provided a sense of how the agent became that cold ruthless agent. Audiences responded in both cases. Neither MGM nor Sony would comment.

I, for one, would not have minded Refn directing a Bond film but it would only appeal to a certain group of people... I'm more happy to hear that Sam Mendes will return!

He's in talks to come back, and the producers are willing to work around his schedule. I would say it's probably 90% positive it'll happen. Unless something drastic happens, you can almost guarantee he'll be the guy. They've wanted him back since before 'Skyfall' came out, and even he wants to return. They'll make it work to make sure he can.

Skyfall is one of my favorite Bond movies - top 3 for sure - so bringing back John Logan and Sam Mendes is just fine and dandy with me! My only concern is that we'll have to wait too long for the next one. I want one every 2 years but I know this is a controversial opinion for some reason.

Well, it won't be out next year, unless they're able to speed up the process. But I'd rather they not rush it. Although, I'm under the impression there's already a script, so maybe they can. 'Skyfall', in my opinion, is almost a damn perfect film, or at least entertaining one, and that has a lot to do with the time taken to put it together. I don't want to wait too long, but I really want them to make sure it's a great followup as well. Catch 22.

Ugh. Yeah, it's hard to decide which side of the fence to be on. I think I'll take my chances and straddle it.

So happy Mendes is back loved Skyfall will thoroughly enjoy seeing what he brings to the table for his second and probably last go around with the series.
