It would be easier to buy a Devils Double for a fiver than buy a spare black case. They're just not really cost effective unless you buy a few or group buy. I think the French The Box has one too but Devils Double would be easier to buy in person. One of our Scandinavian members was helping members out earlier in the year with coloured cases. I'm not sure if he still is.

Yer that's what I'm thinking of doing - group buy. I reckon my collection would look a lot better in black cases

I think both versions look nice, the standard and the Steel. I'm trying to be good and hold out on this though!

Guys, sorry for the question but... Why there's not a only 2D version for the Extended edition in UK? Sorry again.. Thanks in advance.

WB decided against producing one. They never gave me a reason. Probably more cost effective etc.

But in other countries there's a 2D version only, like in US or Italy. However thanks.

Yes I know. I argued this with them but they never gave me a firm answer. Again probably cost effective.

It's a sturdier packaging than I expected, especially given that the extended UK DVDs of Lord of the Rings were flimsy compared to the US versions.

My Amazon pre-order hasn't dispatched yet. Surely they must lose out on sales by doing this (I could cancel and pick up The Hobbit or Pacific Rim in my local supermarket today)? It would be great if pre-orders got shipped to arrive on Monday as our only option. I don't mind waiting 5 days for other orders.

Or HMV, their pricing is very competitive on these titles. Also on Great Gatsby.

A few weeks back I received three items together after they were pre-ordered and ordered days apart. So I had Young Frankenstein on release day with Super Saver Delivery. So sometimes they use a bit of common sense.

Was The Hobbit posted in an A1 envelope or a box? I would have thought it was a bit of a tight squeeze for an A1?

For some reason Amazon have sent my copy of The Hobbit using their courier service rather than through Royal Mail, even though I only went for first class delivery. In any case it's been "out for delivery" from Croydon since this morning but it hasn't arrived yet...
