In 10-15 years when the remake collection comes out maybe Willa Ford will grace the tin cover of it and something tells me people will still have problems with the packaging.

Or you could call it a new entry. Not sure why everyone keeps calling it a reboot when it's just a new F13 entry. We aren't sure if it's going to have the same exact story/same characters as the original F13.

I mean Friday the 13th parts 3-11 aren't all remakes, they are new entries with new kills, characters etc.

Not signaling you out or anything, just that everyone keeps calling this another remake/reboot when it's a new entry. Now if it takes the same characters from the original F13 or F13-2 and puts them in the same exact same situations than yeah it's a remake and I take back what i said about this just being a new entry in a long horror franchise.

I appreciate your optimism.

So where does this movie lie at in the series? Is this 2 and a Half? Or does it this take place while Jason is
[Show spoiler]AWOL in A New Beginning?

To me it's just a new entry that doesn't have a set time yet. Once we get story details we could know more. Or like I said I could be wrong and they could reuse characters from the 1st/2nd part and make this a remake.

It has been revealed that the next 'Friday the 13th' movie will be shot in 3D.

The Hollywood Reporter quietly revealed the news from Paramount Pictures' production slate announcement at CineEurope - where the delay to 'Paranormal Activity 5' and the sequel to 'Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters' were also announced.

If this is on the level - and we have no reason to think otherwise, given it comes direct from Paramount themselves - then it seems safe to assume that plans to shoot the next instalment of the long-running horror series in the found footage style have been abandoned.

The homemade aesthetic that found footage movies aim for ('Blair Witch Project,' 'Paranormal Activity' etc) would seem to be very much at odds with a stereoscopic presentation. Indeed, the two approaches are almost diametrically opposed, as whilst found footage is noted for offering filmmakers a cheaper, quicker option, shooting in 3D is invariably time consuming and pushes the budget up.

There is also no indication yet as to whether or not David Bruckner, reported to have been in negotiations to direct the next 'Friday the 13th,' has indeed signed on the dotted line.

Many had initially assumed that Paramount and production company Platinum Dunes approached Bruckner because of his experience shooting in found footage, having contributed to anthology horror 'V/H/S.'

This latest 'Friday the 13th' - due to hit cinemas on (when else?) Friday 13 November 2015 - will, funnily enough, be the 13th film made in the series, assuming we count 2003's 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' crossover movie 'Freddy Vs. Jason.'

If it is indeed shot in 3D, it will be the second film in the series to do so, following 1983's 'Friday the 13th Part III,' which was made around the time when there was a bit of a craze for third films shot in old-fashioned red-and-green glasses 3D; 'Jaws 3D' and 'Amityville 3D' came the same year.

As well as sending all manner of objects hurtling screen-ward (yo-yos, harpoons, eyeballs), 'Friday the 13th Part III' is also notable for introducing the hockey mask which has long since become the signature of series figurehead Jason Voorhees.

In more recent years the likes of 'My Bloody Valentine,' 'Piranha' and the last two 'Final Destination' movies have demonstrated that horror and 3D can be a winning, not to mention profitable combination.

However, with the initial rush of enthusiasm over digital 3D having largely died out, will there be as much enthusiasm for another stereoscopic slasher - even if it is the big screen return of one of the most iconic slasher movie villains?

Better (or worse) still - could this mean a 3D slasher face-off in the not-too distant future, given earlier reports that Dimension Films may be considering a 3D 'Halloween' movie as well...?

Eh, Friday the 13th Part III was in 3D and that's one of my favorite entries in the series. Plus there have been good slasher films in 3D (My Bloody Valentine).

"Do your thing, son!" Pamela Voorhees screams as she throws her son Jason his machete.

Well that's good news. The 3D should be fun. The last 3D horror movie I saw in the theater was Piranha (2010). At least it won't be found footage. Don't know what they were thinking with that lame idea.

3D is MUCH better than the alternative. Found footage. Besides F13 Part 3 was excellent so... no hope lost just yet.

I agree in the sense that the franchise doesn't really GO ANYWHERE but c'mon, it's fun to watch

Oh shit I thought I posted that in the "Texas Chainsaw 3D" sequel thread!

Regarding Friday the 13th; I think the first four are great, 2 is the best, didn't like the whole "zombie Jason" thing but 7 was cool, and JGtH is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Haven't seen 5, X or the remake.

Boy is my face red.

Don't worry, it happens to the best of us

6 and 2 are usually tied for my favorite, although usually I give the edge to Jason Lives.

5 is the worst of the original Paramount films, but it's still enjoyable, X is also enjoyable, and I thought the remake was surprisingly good.
