I feel your pain! My stereo headset worked fine on the PS3. Wish I could get some more use out of them on the PS4.

Got halfway through AC4 on PS3 but haven't touched it in weeks
Did upgrade to ps4 to try force myself to get on system more
Kinda sorry i did upgrade cause I can see no difference between to the two versions

I picked up a set of the Pulse Elite today at GameStop, they are on sale for $129.99. However the store manager said they also have the GTA5 Edition of these headsets for the same price. I passed on them and just got the standard,does any one know if there was any difference in quality or is it just stickers to make it look different. The store manager told me that they were custom tuned to GTA5, seeing as I dont play GTA5 that was a meaningless "feature" to me.

Stickers and probably pre loaded with the GTA5 profile which can be updated by the Pulse elite application from the PS Store.

You can change them back to the default settings via the app.
To change and add different profiles the pulse elites need to be plugged in Via usb charging cable(not the dongle)

I game on a Asus 27" monitor, the monitor has a 3.5mm headset jack. Can I plug the 3.5mm cable into that port, then into the USB dongle( that's plugged into the PS4) and use them that way? Will I still get the 7.1 surround sound and be able to use them if?

I'm assuming that if you still have a PS3 nearby, plug the dongle into your PS3 and turn it on, then run the 3.5 cable to the headphone jack on your receiver or TV. I've done this before to watch a blu-ray on my Panasonic player and it worked. Haven't tried it with my PS4 but will attempt later today.

Theoretically it would work with the dongle plugged into a PC or laptop too.

It doesn't work with the dongle plugged into your PS4, if the PS4 recognized the dongle you wouldn't have to use the 3.5 cable anyway.

Granted, you'll have to have both PS3 or PC and PS4 on at the same time.

It worked with the dongle plugged into my PS4! The Playstation gave me an alert that this device is not supported when I plugged in the dongle but once I hooked up the cable the headsets worked well. The mic didn't work, but the surround sound did and the bass pulse thing did as well. My only complaint was during quiet times while the game loads you can hear some type of feed back. Not real loud but just noticable during quiet times.

Ah that makes sense. I guess as long as the dongle is receiving power via USB bus it can run the 7.1 surround. So just about any USB port will work.

Still doesn't fix the mic—I feel like I've been missing something playing BF4 with no chat.

That's regular price for those. You should take them back and get the turtle beach px4.

Yeah. I've seen people complain about turtle beach. The one thing I don't like about the sony elite is there's no warranty. Mine cracked 5 months after having them. I treated them really good. Called sony and they said they couldn't help. With TB they have a 1 year warranty.Good luck though.

Looks like 1.6 will be out soon along with the new Sony headset

If we take a closer look at the Gold Wireless Stereo Headset by Sony Computer Entertainment, then we can see in the description of it, that we need a Playstation 3 or Playstation 4 running the Firmware 4.20 or 1.60, respectively.

The release for this Headset is set due to end of January 2014, which means that there will be a new PS4 Firmware in the next 7 days, cause the January ends in less than 7 days.

It does not state which features the new FW 1.60 will offer, but it seems obvious that it will be necessary for those official Headsets for the Playstation 4.

While we are looking at the new Playstation 4 Firmware 1.60, we might want to keep in mind that the Second-Screen feature of the Playstation Vita checks the version of the Playstation 4 and the Playstation Vita, and therefore can deny the access to the Playstation 4 Link features, because a Playstation 4 running Firmware 1.60 will, most likely, need an updated Playstation Vita, so Sony can kill two birds with one stone.

The Playstation 4 Firmware 1.52 forces the Playstation Vita to update to Firmware 3.01 (or higher), otherwise the feature can not be used.

Since we get the Playstation 4 Firmware 1.60, we might can expect a Playstation Vita Firmware 3.10.

PS4 update 1.6 with Pulse headset compatibility to arrive February 22?

Sony has reportedly delayed the PS4 1.6 update to February 22 in order to coincide with the Japan release date.

Many of you may be wondering when the PS4 1.6 update will arrive and the latest source suggests you’ll have to wait until next month to see it touch down on Sony’s next-gen console.

According to supposed PlayStation “inside sources”, the 1.6 update will arrive on February 22, just in time for the Japanese launch.

“Well it seems recently from inside sources that the update we are anticipating has a date. PS4 update 1.6 to be released on Feb 22, 2014 alongside the plan debut of PlayStation 4 in Japan. There will be talk about the headset soon but the update was pushed to the 22nd. I hope this little bit of information helps everyone out,” wrote official PlayStation Community poster ungodly0529.

The long-awaited 1.6 firmware update is rumoured to bring PlayStation Pulse headset compatibility to the PS4.

In October 2013, Sony confirmed that the PS4 would have limited chat headset compatibility at launch, with additional headsets supported through a firmware update.

Despite it being over two months since the PS4 launched in the UK and US, Sony has yet to deliver an expected release date for PS4 headset compatibility.

Currently, gamers have to use the mono chat headset included with the PS4 to communicate online with their friends, as existing Bluetooth and other third party gaming headsets will not work with the PS4 for chat.

There are no other details as to what else the 1.6 update could bring, but we expect it will mostly be bugs fixes and internal software tweaks to keep the PS4 problem free.
