Watched the second episode.

Although the added ‘grain’ can look a bit noisy at times (in clear backgrounds such as the sky and solid bright walls), I’d still take it anyday over the streaming version (which has significant compression artifacts). Overall the transfer looks excellent, demo-worthy in a lot of scenes and it really uses HDR and the expanded color really well. Other than those few noisy moments, the rest is great. No other compression artifacts that I noticed and it looks quite lovely overall. So far anyway. It was filmed in such a cinematic style and the 4K blu-ray really enhances that.

Plus, the lossless audio is hands down better than the lossy streaming version. It has that fullness and clarity that lossy audio just can’t capture. Wish I had the whole weekend to myself to binge it.

Sure slipped under the radar. Will be getting this. They had to make this a six disc set just for one more episode than the first season? Better be some special features like The Making Of and Interviews with this.

There are no extras, so they packed three episodes instead of four onto each BD-66. At least the bitrate's a little better.

Anyone from Fremont, CA? Are there ample stocks of the 4K set in our local Target stores? Won't be able to get a copy until next week.

My closest Target store had 3 UHD copies listed based on the inventory website.

I went and bought the 4K edition, went home and refreshed the page.

Now says it only carries two. So that site is accurate

saw in person today that my local Target is down to two copies
I think they had 8 copies on the shelf when I went in evening of the release day.
that is regarding 4k (for the blu-ray they started with maybe 12-15 and have 9 left; 4k is selling as well or better than the blu at my local store, perhaps surprisingly).

(the online tracking of stock is utterly useless in my region for Target or BB they show stock when there is none, show no stock when it is in stock)

If I'm to believe my Target's inventory.

They had 104 blu-rays and 10 UHDs on release day.

Today, they have 84 blu-rays and are down to 1 UHD copy.

Which means 20 BDs and 9 UHDs sold for a total of 29 copies sold in its first week of release.

Local Target had season 2 sets in the 4k spots. Not actually the 4k version. At least the covers were different for season 1 so I figured they were wrong by noticing the covers were the same as those in the blu-ray spots.

Wandered from the sets in the front of the store to the back of the store and found 1 remaining 4k set behind 2 blu-ray sets.

Is it actually worth $30, especially since I have NetFlix and can watch it when I want? Dunno, but I bought it anyway. Nostalgia packaging FTW, I guess.

Ordered my UHD copy online. No Target stores nearby had any UHD sets. Lots of blu-ray sets though.

I must say, I did prefer the packaging for the Season 1 sets a lot more. I get what they were going for with S2, but it would've been cool had they continued on with the same layout so that all the seasons would actually match (although, in fairness, NOT matching does sort of add to the authenticity of the VHS style, lol). This set just somehow feels cheaper even though it's actually bulkier.

I like the different style case for season 2. I remember seeing those clamshell VHS cases everywhere way back, especially early-on before VHS used the standard smaller boxes that were just big enough for the cassette. I definitely like the UHD season 2 box over the blu-ray season 2 box.

My copy arrived today and I was amazed at how well they packed it. While it was in a standard shipping envelope (I hate those things) they wrapped the entire case in thick bubble wrap on all sides, then folded it over and actually taped it with Target-branded tape. I was seriously impressed. It was very well-protected. If only Amazon packed things so well.

Apparently none of my local Targets got the 4k set and none are on the way to any of them either. I'm not in the middle of nowhere but it is what it is!

You have to order it online like I did. No Targets received the 4k sets in my area either.

Question.

The 4K UHD is sold out at my nearest Target.

I purchased it at the $29.99 price.

Now, let's say it does go on sale for Black Friday or later this year.

If Target isn't (assuming) getting more copies, blu-ray or 4K, would I still be able to get a refund on the price diference?

But how would that be possible if no more copies are being shipped? Unless it's still available online at a lower price.

None of the retailer stores (Best Buy, Target, and Walmart) offer price adjustments starting from Black Friday til Cyber Monday to match the lower price offered. Best method is to purchase at the lower price if you're able to find a copy, and return it with your old receipt.

I already purchased my copy though last week. It's still wrapped and I have the receipt as I was waiting for a drop in price.

Your receipt should state that it is returnable until 1/24/19 with the extended holiday returns. So if you can snag the same item cheaper during BF, you can return it with the old receipt.

Nothing but "Not sold at this store" within 250 miles of me. Seems like they overestimated their stock with Season 1 and drastically underestimated it with Season 2.

Am I the only one that checks discs when I open them? 5 of the 6 discs in my UHD set had scuffs and scratches - some circular, some straight scratches. Those bloody foam hubs and cardboard trays where the disc surface sits directly on the cardboard. I ran into the same issue with season 1 - most of my season 1 discs are scratched, and I even got it exchanged for another set and those were scratched.

I will not buy season 3 when it is released unless they do away with this awful packaging. There's no need for cardboard and foam hubs/trays. My Tom Baker Doctor Who blu-ray set from the UK is a big book-style box that opens up much like Stranger Things season 2, but it has plastic trays inside. No reason why Stranger Things can't do the same thing.

If I thought I could get a better set I'd try swapping it out, but I'm convinced the next set would also be scratched. Also, I don't have a UHD player yet, so I can't even check my UHD discs. At least I can scan the blu-rays in my PC drive to check for readability.

Also, the bottom cardboard tray was creased and bent in my set. The top cardboard tray was okay, just the bottom one is creased.
