Yes the included blu-ray is new: remastered video, same 7.1 audio, some new extras, looses many extras (compared to diamond edition blu-ray)

You can get this in the Disney Short Films Blu-ray. I think that's why they dropped this feature.

TLM was old school hand drawn cel animation, TLK was CAPS -- big difference in the original source elements without basically having to re-render TLK from scratch.

This is hands-down THE release for me this year! Can't wait to see it in 4K! The Little Mermaid is my all-time favorite movie, Disney or not!

It is really hard not to upgrade my bluray's when 4k versions get rave reviews like this. Anyone that passed on upgrading Lion King to 4K getting The Little Mermaid in 4K?

The 4K version is sharp, and a few brighter colors are a touch stronger than the Blu-ray, but the difference in detail is not that large, and you're more limited here by the original source than you are by the transfer it appears. The 4K version isn't bad, it just doesn't offer anything over the Blu-ray version really, and certain details can lose color compared to Blu-ray. It just winds up feeling like a much darker film on HDR than on SDR because of how Disney did the output levels, and there aren't big areas of HDR for wide contrast to make up for that.

I'd just personally save the $5-10 and find a Blu-ray copy myself instead of the 4K version, but I'm used to people that buy/pre-order a film disagreeing with my thoughts. Disney also sent Ralph Wrecks the Internet, so I'll see how that is today.
Sounds like you need to get yourself a Panasonic ub820 or ub9000. It will solve your dark HDR10 movies forever

Edit: I just saw your signature and u actually own one. I'm not sure if you know this but you can boost the lower end to fix this issue.

I have never had The Little Mermaid on Blu-ray, so I will be getting the UHD since it appears to be a quality transfer. Since The Lion King is an upscale and already looks marvelous on my Diamond Edition I will probably not double dip.

I'm only a modest fan of the movie, but this disc is awfully tempting.

Fingers crossed Beauty and the Beast will get a new master when it inevitably gets a UHD release.

It was done with CAPS, so a 2K upscale will do the work. The CAPS movies are locked to a certain resolution so a 4K rescan will add zero detail.

Not necessarily... It depends if the CAPS 2K was truly 2K resolution or only 1920x1080. Also it depends on what processing was used on the Blu-ray which could have diminished resolution slightly.

Could someone please provide screenshot comparisons of the Diamond Edition, and both 4K and 1080p Blu-Rays of the Signature Edition?

I wonder if the opening credits are back to the original version or the same altered credits from the previous release?

I don't know if this has been asked before, but has the "Part Of Your World" frame inversion been fixed?

Opening Credits Match The Diamond 2D/3D presentations - different from the theatrical.
Closing credits are slightly different from all previous releases and have a 2018 copyright date.
