Loved that 88 Films included the episode of Celebrity Talk Show from ATV on the Erotic Ghost Story blu ray. I am actually not finding the three hosts to be perverts at all hehe, sure they talked without hinders about boobs and everything. But pay attention when two of them move to sit on the armrests of the couch when the ladies sit down. In my opinion that gesture was enough to show they were gentlemen

But to the purpose of my post, there is an episode of the same talkshow where they have Jackie Chan as a guest discussing his accident on Arnour of God. Hopefully the good people involved with this release already know that, so maybe having our fingers crossed that this episode makes it to the upcoming 88 Films release

haven't seen that one yet (maybe it's on YouTube, as a good portion of them are now). I do hope they can put it on this release.

I assume this is the episode you mean?

sounds like they are talking about it, or another one where he couldn't hear out of one ear and his ears were bleeding, in the very beginning (albeit my canto isn't great)

Yes, that's the one He does discuss it only at the beginning, but cool to hear it from him personally. Mainly about blood splashing out of his ears and he didn't know what was going on. And he eventually got quite scared at the hospital when his staff kept telling him he was going to be ok, but still they were almost crying. They do speak rather fast in this talkshow, so it was hard picking up all details, especially when the hosts kept interrupting and throwing jokes inbetween. Do hope this one will end up on the disc subtitled

So I re-watched the clip again and can elaborate a little more on what JC was telling, in case this doesnt make it to the release
So after the accident they did what they could to hide the facts ftom his mom, he was quite scared that his mom would find out how serious the accident was. Also right after he fell, he complained about pain in his back. But then the staff started covering his head and told him to lie still, because blood started splashing out his ears. They also told him to stay awake. At the hospital his staff had a hard time holding their tears back while telling him that the doctors would put a piece into his head to heal the wound, but that it would be taken out later. JC was quite afraid, but mostly he was afraid of syringes. James Wong laughs mockingly..seriously you do all these stunts and almost die..and you afraid of syringes/needle injections?!

He also said his right ear cannot take high frequency sounds comfortably enough, low frequencies he cannot hear clearly. He also hurt his back badly, and when sitting for a long time, he has to stretch out his legs to get comfortable again. James Wong asked why he doesn't undergo surgery to fix it. JC says he doesnt believe in Eastern medicine, and with Western methods, he is afraid of surgery and needles. He also believes that his injuries are not able to heal, unless all his inner parts are detached and built up again from scratch
Also it is revealed that often when he is in hotels, he prefers to sleep on the floor instead of the bed, because of his back pains.

I always remember Jackie getting Jonathan Ross to touch the hole in his head from that accident.

Oh god, yes. Ross said he could feel the vibrations in the plastic!

Looking into adding this as an extra, thanks for the great suggestion!

Thanks, I knew that I had read somewhere years ago that Jackie had so much trouble with his back that he couldn't use a bed at times. No wonder he is doubled for many of the back-falls since mid-80s or so.

Asked about it in a couple of forums back in the days but was almost charged with defamation whenever it was brought up around other Chan-fans...

This is why I throw down for these releases. Would be great if both could be added (as it seems like this release is going to be another big one).

The same dudes/show that was on the recent Erotic Ghost Story. Never heard of this show before but certainly possibly some interesting tales to be told. Though, they are more comedian interviewers than perhaps getting to the real grit with a particular artist. The interview they did with the 3 actresses from EGS was certainly somewhat disrespectful but they did cover some interesting subject matter. It's always interesting to hear what others think even if I don't always agree with them or their approach.

I remember reading back in the day that during the time Jackie was making Shanghai Noon, his whole body locked up and he was stuck in his seat on a plane.

All the big stars were brought on that show during its run. While I believe the vast majority of the episodes are now on YouTube, who knows how long that will be for, so I think having these as extras on these releases (and putting the others on different releases, as well (Chow Yun Fat, Leslie Cheung, Karl Maka, etc)) would be a good thing.

There's also two specials that they haven't put up: a kind of big dinner party thing that was supposed to cap off series 2 (but they ended up doing a few more episodes after), and a Chinese New Year special.

There's also a mysterious series 3 that nobody seems to know anything about and there's literally zero information on. One theory is that ATV don't have the tapes anymore, another is that the New Years special is series 3.
Is it fair to assume that these aren't subtitled for us non-Cantonese speakers?

Ni Kuang is most critical (and insightful), but that's not a surprise considering he defected. The episode in general is uncomfortably sobering, especially in light of the world today.
Boy, I bet he started checking under the bed circa 1997. Probably still does.

Still largely relevant to today's leader!
