Best guess - it was released before 2021. Most of the Amazon items that have dropped in price seem to be the items released after WBShop stopped being the Official Shop. No idea if Amazon has a different slice of the revenue on those titles or different pricing structure through Warner, but it is curious

I'm going to guess it isn't one that Target carries so Amazon has no reason to include it in their Coupon and B2G1 sales.

I'm also going to guess -- you don't have a total of 4 WAC you need or the MZ sale would be an easy answer

It is a gangster movie, but also has a couple of musical numbers and MGM released it, so any confusion is understandable.

anyone ever see some came running? A 2.5 on this site, but 7.1 on imdb... which is actually good for imdb standards.

Suggestions on to blind buy or not?

It's one of Minnelli's very best movies for sure and that's saying alot coming from me. It's also one of the 1001 movies to see before you die (iirc).

I haven't seem my bluray copy yet but I'm sure it looks stellar. Can't go wrong with WAC.

I was on the fence too but just heard it recommended on the New Beverly Cinema's podcast so at this price I'm sold. It also averages 3.5 to 4 stars from the people I follow on Letterboxd, which I generally trust more than IMDB these days.

I don't know where you're getting the 2.5 (I assume out of 5?) as I never look to this site for any assessment besides A/V quality, to the extent that I don't even know how to do it, but kind of mindblowing to me that it would ever have a rating that low anywhere. I know "people I follow on letterboxd" is a highly variable, anecdotal metric, but just to complement schwaarz's own such report, among its 14 ratings from people I follow there, it has nine 5/5, three 4.5, one 4 and one 3.5. And it's rare to see such enthusiastic agreement among my follows! (On letterboxd as a whole it has an average of 3.7 out of 5, just a little higher than the IMDB.) It's been a while since I've seen it, but what I remember is top tier melodrama, Minnelli plumbing depths of ennui and desperation in cinemascope and technicolor!

FWIW, Some Came Running has one (out of 5) and two 1/2 star reviews from the people I'm following on Letterboxd who've seen the film. In all three instances, these are people I follow but not friends I know personally. None of my friends have seen the film, or at least haven't tracked it.

In my experience, Vincente Minnelli is very hit-or-miss, but when he's on, he's amazing.

I haven't seen this movie, so I have no opinion of it.

I actually find the reviewers here fairly consistent with my ratings; but there are some major movie ratings I've disagreed with... so looks like this might be one of them!
