I also want to add that I know this isn't Shout's fault, this is clearly happening at the replication plant, as it is not only SF that has been affected by this. It's happening with Criterion and others as well. Also, this never used to be an issue with SF, it's only been happening recently and started around the same time as the other labels, which clearly indicates that this is happening at the plant. I hope they're able to do something about it. Must be annoying as hell (and costly) getting all these returns.

That's interesting. I really didn't know that, but suspected something like that was the case based on how many 4K discs I see scratched up in new products.

Even if I see a Blu-ray with a light scratch (which is rare in my experience) — it often runs through a CRC program free from any errors.

4K UHD discs on the other hand? If they appear scratched, it seems at least a good 50/50 chance they'll have playback errors when checked.

Yep, half of my Criterion discs have at least a small scratch.

Do scratches really affect playback on the UHD format? I've never found it to be so. So far playback issues I have have always been dust speck related. It's remarkable how sensitive the 4k lens are to a single speck of dust. I tend to check the discs against dust when putting them in before hand as a result.

Yes. Scratches & scuffs impact playback.

I got one coming from Amazon, so here's hoping. Although I thought I was in the clear with the first 4K UHD, but sometimes you got to really roll them around with your hand under a bright light to find the scratches.

Mine arrived with what looked like a scratch on the UHD disc, but it turned out to just be a smudge. Phew!

I got mine from Amazon. There are a couple smaller scratches on it. Definitely no where near as bad as the other one I received. I decided to play it. I had no playback errors thankfully.

The transfer is a revelation compare to my old Anchor Bay DVD. I still unabashedly love this film.

I watched the first two bonus features. Watching Albert Pyun talk about his experience on set was a trip especially when he was told Richard Lynch was on coke, and he said, oh, well, his performance is really good!

Always loved Pyuns films. The Sword And The Scorcerer, Cyborg, Nemesis, Dollman, just to name a few. All have a super fun low budget feel to them that I love and miss. He is very talented with action and mood. The fact that his films get trashed is sad, he makes awesome B movies for B movie fans. And I find this way more fun than Beastmaster and way cooler to look at too. Anyway mine arrived today too. Gonna watch this weekend.

Nemesis has action scenes on par with the first Matrix and Hard Boiled. Some of the wildest most fun, and we'll shot action scenes period imo.
