Each and everyone of these wish-lists is incomplete without L'eclisse and L'avventura.

Carry on now.

I love L'avventura, but everything else from Antonioni bores me honestly. Just one of those directors I can't get into for whatever reason.

YOu know, I'm EXACTLY the same way! I loved L'Avventura -- something about it sucked me in -- but everything else of his puts me to sleep.

+1 on L'Avventura.

Kurosawa hands down. Ordering Dodes'ka-Den right now on reg DVD.

Hitchcock would be a close second.

That was the US title. On the DVD it was called Shivers

I don't want to derail this thread but I really want to buy many more of these Criterion Blu-rays but the Canadian prices (and the bad exchange rate) are kind of insane on them now ($36+ at amazon.ca) and I'm wondering if anyone in Canada has any ideas on a way to buy Criterion Blu-rays for somewhat reasonable prices (like how we used to be able to get them from amazon.com for well under $30 Cdn). If anyone has any advice maybe they could they PM me details. Thanks a lot.

Does the Blu line start at 1, or are they keeping the DVD #s. Please say starting with 1. There are some from the DVD #s that will never be making their way to Blu which will leave holes.

well.... I'm pretty sure the spine numbers correspond with the DVD's.... so there will likely be holes......

Yeah, if you go to Criterion's blu-ray page you'll see the blu-ray spine numbers right to the left of the cover art. The spine numbers will be all over the place since they're the same as the DVDs. I hope your OCD doesn't get the best of you.

They have pills for that now. Or we could just watch and see what happens.

Hmmm....To pre-order from Amazon, or to wait to see if Criterion.com's pre-order system comes back online anytime soon....

Criterion to release Benjamin Button?

http://movies.yahoo.com/news/movies....-may-5-reuters

Quote:
In addition to its single-disc packaging, "Button" will be available on DVD and Blu-ray Disc in two-disc Criterion Edition sets featuring more than three hours of special features. A documentary on the second disc follows the creative development of the literary adaptation and its many production challenges, including the elaborate, Oscar-winning visual effects.
Wow that is really interesting! I'd be curious to know about the workings of that deal.

But Benjamin Button is definitely deserving of some awesome special features, and I'm sure Criterion will deliver.
