From version 3 to v6 the entire speaker has changed from cosmetic to internal, crossovers and all speakers have been redesigned. The newer speakers are more detailed with a much better low end and brighter high end. I would say $650 for 11 v3 is over priced and you would be better off getting monitor 7's v6 for $100 more, they would out perform the monitor 11's v3.

I'm actually looking for an older sub (can't remember my model number). I want to run dual subs and I want them to match cosmetically and sonic-ly. I can find them in black ash, but not the red that I have. (I wanna say PDR-8??) Not sure though. But thank you again. Maybe it's time for an upgrade!!!

I think it was the PDR-8 that came in red, i know that series has been discontinued and they only make the PDR-10 now. Good luck trying to find that color, i don't think they made allot of them and personally have never seen one in the buy and sells on the net. If i come across 1 i'll PM you.

Monitors are their "budget" line if you will. Make no mistake, Paradigm is far from a budget speaker though. Excellent quality and build. If I'm not mistaken they're at version 6 right now. Sometimes they change from version to version just a bit, or sometimes they change drastically. Take mine as an example. I have Studio 60's v2 at the front and when they went to v3 there was almost no change at all. Now look at the pics here and tell me there's no change from my version 2 to version 6

I've seen this statement in reviews "Paradigm designs its speakers to be used with the grilles on"...is it bad to play them with the grilles off ?

You can usually get them for that price i think the list is $750 or $799 but i have never payed list price for speakers, the dealer always has some room to move on them.

Hello,

I was wondering if there are any Paradigm owners that own speakers in-wall / in-ceiling?

Background:

Current speakers: Monitor 7's and CC-290

What in-ceiling speakers could I buy that would go well with the speakers I have listed above? I'm wanting to put 2 in the rear and 2 on the sides. The room size is 22'X18'X9'.

I was thinking something like the PV-60R or AMS-150R????

Any suggestions or ideas?

Hi guys quick question...I currently have Studio 60's v2. I know the v5's changed internally but has anyone upgraded from a v2 or 3 to the new 5's ? I just want to know if there's a big enough sound difference to justify changing my v2's which I think already sound great.

well the drivers are completely different now. The crossover has also changed to accomodate these different driver changes. The curved cabinet also benefits the sound.

The newest version (v5) studios are very good and would make a nice upgrade over your older versions.

Never heard anything before the v4's but I would say after a couple of versions it would have a different sound for sure. Don't know how big of a difference but since you already got Paradigms I'm guessing you got a dealer close by that you could swing by to check out.

+1 on that ozzman. Well said.
As well as making them aesthetically pleasing. Now there is word on the Piano Gloss finish on the Studios.

Love to see pics of them.

Thanks for the responses guys, I'll be looking into them for an upgrade. In the meantime I have to finish up the riser in the Home Theater and install my ADP-590's. Can't wait to hear them.
