One thing that i8910 Omnia HD confirmed is that OLED has crappy performance outside / in sunlight. I prefer standard TFT LCD than OLED in most situations as the power consumption and colors are doable conventionally just with more engineering skill required (or a beefier battery)
I wish they would add QWERTY to that X3, as well as xenon flash. |

OLED is worse and useless in sunlight. Some of the others you can squint at. My n97 is viewable in direct sunlight, t hough I don't make a habit of watching movies out there.

One thing to note about the Xperia 3 is that Sony are porting their Walkman and Cybershot software to Android, it could potentially pave the way for Android powered Cameras and Walkmans which would definitely set them apart from the competition.
Hopefully the browser on this thing is good, I have used the Satio, and while it is a massive improvement over previous iterations, the latest NetFront 3.5 browser still needs a lot of work to be competing against the likes of webOS and Safari Mobile. Maybe Firefox Mobile will be available on the Android App store sooner rather than later. |

If Opera Mini 5 fixes some things, they could challenge it, but otherwise Nokia did a really good job optimizing the default browser, at least wrt other s60 implementations. |

I'm stuck with Sprint, and thinking of getting a new phone in the next few months. I have one of the original Instincts, and it's been having issues, but Sprint seems willing to replace it, but I might hold off a bit until newer phones are out. I think the Hero comes out in Oct, and the rumor is that the InstinctQ will follow exactly 1 month later. |

Anyway, I like the touch "click" screen as well. It took a whole 30 min. for my wife and I to get used to it. Also Suretype is actually better I believe once you spend the 15-20 min. to get used to it. I recommend trying it. I can type about 30wpm with Suretype. As for the battery drain issue, you can try adjusting the screen brightness down to 10. It is not that much dimmer and still visible in daylight, but it increases battery life big time! I was going through one full charge daily, but after adjusting the screen brightness down I can usually go 2 days before a recharge. |

I've had a cellphone since the day they came out, but I'm a total noob with today's phones. Way too many freagin' options. I have no idea how to use most of the features.
Bought my very first iPhone last week! Only an 8gb 3G, but that's ok as I don't download videos or music. My phone is actually for phone calls! LOL! John |

Ok, so Sprint announced the cost of the Instinct HD, and it's $249 ($349 - $100 MiR, requires 2 year plan).
Seems a bit pricey for a phone that doesn't really add much over the 2nd model Instinct, which can be had for something like $49 (after MiR and 2-year plan). The screen is certainly not HD (it's 480 x 320), so the HD comes from the HD output on the phone, which seems pointless, because the cameras can only be so good. So selling an HD phone is almost as dumb as selling HD sunglasses. Not that I care, because I didn't plan on getting one... but it makes me worry about what the InstinctQ will cost. ![]() |
