... and Scott Glenn was orignally cast as Clay for the orignal Pilot. Would love to get a copy of that.

I have been reading Kurt Sutters blog "SutterInk" recently, liked what I read, then decided to start from the beginning (2007) - highly recommended reading, and not just for SOA fans. Gives you a great, and somewhat rare, look at a side of hollywood business that is usually wrapped-up in all-smiles 30 second puff piece interviews.

Great stuff!
I believe we discussed the HBO thing long ago, not sure if that was here or not. I remember hearing about Scott being cast before the show started filming and than they quickly realized he wasn't gonna work, and they brought in Ron which ended up being a huge blessing. Been a long long time follower of Sutter's blog, I've linked it here a ton, as well as his twitter account which also doesn't get too many show related items but these are all due to his hectic work schedule. There is another twitter account linked to his called the SAMCRO Blogger that is constantly updating with photos and casting news, or video and if you are interested at all in this show, you must be checking there too. The SAMCRO twitter accounts are the reason I have one, I don't post I just follow these crazy bastards. We are now down to just a little over 5 weeks. I am f*cking excited!!!!!

Speaking of, I just dropped by the SAMCRO Blogger and we FINALLY have a SEASON 3 PROMO!!!

None of you guys have watched the Season 3 promos yet?? Come on where are the other hardcore SAMCRO fans, I can't be the only one!

Besides the video I posted up here last night in the thread above, I saw another alternative trailer during last night's Rescue Me as well, that showed 3 dudes rolling up in a van, one guy with an uzi starts mowing down Sons from Nevada and California during a get together outside a business. Women where even dropping. Looked f*cking brutal and based on the eyes and skin color under the ski masks, they looked Mayan to me.

Hi everyone! This is Heather, Sherri, Mariae, Ginger and Leigh Ann, and we are known as the Boot Girls. The five of us are currently leading a grassroots initiative called the Boot Campaign, and our newest announcement is that we have been blessed to have caught the attention of the USO.

The USO heard about the Boot Campaign as the result of a request for permission to capture in a photograph one of their celebrities on a USO tour in Boots. They were interested in what the Boot Campaign was doing and how they could help fulfill its goals. From there, a great partnership was born, and we are thrilled to be working alongside such a noteworthy and hardworking organization.

The USO’s mission, for almost 70 years, is the same as what is in our hearts. They “support U.S. troops and their families wherever they serve” and “show appreciation and gratitude to men and women who defend us.” We’re proud to have the support of this long-standing, reputable organization in selling our boots. (And we are really excited that we have made an impression on them, too!)

The Boot Campaign itself is an initiative to raise awareness and funding for existing military non-profit organizations with fundraising opportunities through product sales and event planning. The ultimate goal is selling one million of our signature Altama combat boots to benefit the military veterans of our country. The Boot Campaign is most recognizable to the public for our photos of celebrities and popular personalities in combat boots. Participants in these pictorial spreads include actor Jim Caviezel, singer Gretchen Wilson, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, sports great Nolan Ryan and the iconic Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, just to name a few! The list is constantly growing, and more opportunities continue to arise for us and the Campaign. [And the list just grew to include the Sons of Anarchy! Check out behind-the-scenes footage of their photo shoot here!

We were instantly interested in the idea after Boot Girl Sherri discussed the concept with us and recommended the “Lone Survivor” book by Marcus Luttrell. Since then, Luttrell’s account has inspired all of us to continue creating awareness of the current U.S. soldiers and veterans. Some of us have family military background, and even those who don’t were captivated by the initiative. We expect for the Boot Campaign to benefit military veterans by shaping their image as heroes who are worthy of attention and praise.

Like the USO, the Boot Girls are not politically motivated. We are just five girls who want our friends, our families and everyone we can reach to realize that there are people across the world who are missing their friends and families to keep us free and safe.

The Boot Campaign and the Boot Girls make our national television debut today on Fox & Friends with singer Joe Nichols, and we hope everyone can tune in and find out more information regarding what we’re all about, and how everyone can get involved!

So lose the Redwings, the Nikes and (gasp!) the Manolos and “Get Your Boots On” with us! Let’s show those men and women who protect our freedom that they are the true heroes, earning celebrity status in the hearts of the people they fight for!

If season one alone made this your favorite show on tv, like it did for me, you are going to go ape shit over season two. Hopefully you will have been able to reattach your jaw from the floor by the 7th.

This show has been on my back burner for a while, and last week I finally sat down and watched Season 1 and 2. Needless to say I loved it. The show had a bit of an identity crisis and narrative issues in the first half of S1, but it quickly kicked into gear and found its mojo, which didn't let up all the way to the end of S2. Ron Perlman and Katey Sagal are really fantastic, as is the rest of the cast. I hope Ally Walker is back in S3, she's amazing. Dayton Callie always impresses as well.

I'm really looking forward to S3.

Ally Walker aka Agent Stahl is in 4 or 5 episodes in Season 3. It's safe to say when you're married to John Landgraf the president of FX and your husband is Kurt Sutter's boss, you will more than likely always have a job.

I was pretty surprised that she wasn't nominated for an Emmy for her guest work. As she truly is fantastic on the show (especially in Season 1). I guess I shouldn't be surprised though since Katey and Ron haven't been nominated yet either. Hopefully next year we'll have some changes on the ballot.

Haha, you must not have scanned the earlier pages on all my ranting about the Emmys. Not just me though, check this out from Sutter's twitter the other day:

As always another great interview with Sutter. I always enjoy learning more about the man behind the darkness. As we get closer to the show, now less than 4 weeks until the Season 3 premiere, expect me to be posting lots more interviews with the cast and crew. So check back often.

Shedding Light on a Dark Soul: Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter is as bombastic as his shows
Quote:
Kurt Sutter, the rabidly outspoken creator of FX’s violent Shakespearean drama Sons of Anarchy, has always been drawn to the murkier corners of the human heart. “I was always sort of a dark cat and a little bit on the outside,” Sutter says. “So, I really was drawn to characters that had very big feelings and made really bad choices as a result of those big feelings.”

Sutter is brimming with his own big feelings, and he’s not averse to airing them. His profanity-laced blog, http://www.sutterink.blogspot.com, has helped define him as a Hollywood outlaw. When a former Hell’s Angel from New York City filed a $5 million lawsuit claiming Sutter purloined the idea for Sons of Anarchy, Sutter characterized him as a “delusional b*tch.”

In an open letter to tabloid fave Lindsay Lohan, he called the media “despicable wh*res who prey on the indiscretions and weaknesses of celebrity vulnerability.” And when the Sons actors were snubbed by Emmy voters, he called them “lazy sheep.”

But Sutter’s easy familiarity with rage and pathos, so evident in both his blog and the richly drawn, deeply damaged outlaw bikers of Sons, has been an integral component of his success. After graduate school at Northern Illinois University, where he says he discovered iconoclastic poetic realists such as Strindberg and Ibsen, he made his way to California. A successful screenplay—Delivering Gen, which Sutter describes as Bonnie & Clyde with a baby—got his foot in a few doors. Eventually, one opened at Shawn Ryan’s The Shield, the ground-breaking FX drama about dirty cop Vic Mackey and his merry band of sadistic deputies.

“When I met with Shawn and [late executive producer] Scott Brazil, they said, ‘OK, you have a minute to tell us, putting aside any sense of humility, why we should hire you, why you are great for this show,’” Sutter recalls. “And I didn’t know what to say other than I think I can write damaged people very well. And Vic Mackey was a highly damaged character.”

Whatever attracts Sutter to the dark side, it’s not a sinister childhood trauma. He grew up in a stable, middle-class New Jersey home with two parents and two older sisters. “I’m not quite sure what draws me there,” he says. “It’s not necessarily who I am. But I’m just attracted to those flawed characters, and obviously Sons is filled with them.”

It was Sutter’s time on The Shield— where he was hired as a writer, and worked for the show’s entire run to eventually become an executive producer— that honed his storytelling. “I found my voice as a writer on [The Shield],” he says. “And Shawn was a great mentor and really let me lend my voice to the show.”

Sons of Anarchy is an organic heir apparent to The Shield, which ended in 2008. But developing and executing a show about something as esoteric as an outlaw biker club was a “painful birthing process,” says FX President John Landgraf.

“You’re talking about a completely different genre,” he says. “And that’s just really hard. But I felt strongly about Kurt as a creative visionary. He has a very strong and self-assured point of view about his characters and the story he wants to tell.”

Sutter spent time with a biker club in Oakland, Calif., researching the subculture. He still rides, and with his long hair and tattoos looks every inch the biker, fitting for his portrayal of jailed club member Big Otto Delaney. But his wife and the show’s co-star, actress Katey Sagal, was perhaps his most vivid inspiration.

To hear Sutter talk, their relationship is truly a love affair. The couple has a 3½- year-old daughter Esme, who was conceived with the help of a surrogate. Sagal, who also has two children from a previous relationship, inspired the role of Gemma, the matriarch of the Sons biker club and the show’s moral center, he says.

“Katey was my secret weapon coming into this project,” Sutter says. “She’s a really fierce mom. I didn’t have kids when I met Katey, and my mom was not that way. So, to meet someone like Katey, who was just a fierce mother and very protective of her kids, there was something really powerful about that.”

SUTTER ON AGEISM

[Editor’s Note: Our Fifth Estater profiles always include the subject’s birthdate, but Sutter did not want to give his away. When asked why, he commented on why he feels his age has a negative connotation for what he does.]

“I wish it didn’t matter, but unfortunately it does...at a certain point when you have a big enough body of work, [age] doesn’t really matter. I’m sure David Milch and David Mamet don’t give a f*ck if people know how old they are. But I’m not there yet.”

Here are screen shots I took from the multiple trailers lurking around. Quality ain't the greatest but you can only work with what's available. Nothing shown here you can't see on tv or online already, so nobody cry Spoiler fowl alright.

Piney is lighting that dude with the scatter gun up. Also based on what I could see but couldn't get a good image of other than the one with Lyla entering the door in lingerie, theres a quick clip with Lyla in a room with a group of Asian businessmen and she's on her knees. Makes you think she's taking part in a bukake style film, cause Opie comes blowing through the door and throttles someone with quite possibly one of the angriest looks on his face we've ever seen. Hard to not think Lyla is up to her old ways, when you see a woman in lingerie surrounded by a room full of Asian men, lol. But hell anytime I get to see Winter Ave Zoli rockin that hard little body of hers in some skippy and revealing clothes, makes me a happy man.

Talking

Countdown to Season 3
Quote:
I thought I'd take a moment from my bombastic walk down the dark, rocky road I travel upon to update fans as to the current status of the show.

All 13 episodes are broken.
A writer's draft of 313 is being written.
I am currently working on my draft of 312.
Adam Arkin is prepping 311.
Gwyneth H-Payton is directing/shooting 310.
Stephen Kay is working on his director's cut of 309.
I'm working on my producer's cut of 308. This will be a 90 minute episode.
Craig Yahata, my post producer, is working on the pre-mix for 307.
306 is mixed and in layback.
305 is getting final post touches and is ready for final mix and layback.
304 is done and out to critics.
303 is mixed and waiting for a re-shoot to drop in. A temp version is out to critics.
302 is done and out to critics.
301 is done and out to critics. The name of the premier episode is "SO".

The SOA iPhone app should hit the week that episode 308 airs. It'll make sense why.

Thanks for checking in. More to come as we get closer to the premier date.

Well I was up until 2:30 am last night watching season 2 and I have to wake up at 5:30 for work. I kept on saying one more episode but I could not wait to see the next one. I watched the first 7 episodes.

WyldeMan45 I kept reading how you said if you loved season 1 wait till you watch season 2. You were dead on I did not think it could be much better than season 1 but season 2 is even better.

See, I knows what I'm talking about with my SOA. It's like crack to the fiend. You always say just one more, and than you keep going haha. This is a very addictive show, and I have yet to ever hear one single person say they don't like this show. I've converted many a new fan through this thread and my word of mouth on the street, and I will keep working until this show has 10 million viewers.
