Much appreciated!

Question:

Can the EE play the theatrical cut? Or is that only relegated to the first release of this film?

I always love the Extended versions of any film, i honestly believe that should be the things that are always released even in theaters not an extra 10 mins later on. give us the unrated the longest films and we would be happy don't give us a shorter version and rated version then a extended and unrated later theres no point.

Nope, the EE version is EE only.

This is horrible!

Have you called Oppo [650-961-1118] - 'cause that's weird?

Yes, they are going to try and address it for the next firmware update. I forgot to note I am using the beta version which caused this.

I agree with you. Two notable exceptions for me are Dumb & Dumber and Amadeus which were both destroyed by the additional/altered footage. But for LOTR and The Hobbit... EE all the way!

I've been looking for the Hobbit Extended Edition everywhere and almost every store doesn't have it. the only options I see were the DVD edition, Best Buy 3D edition, and the regular Hobbit. is Amazon the only place to get the Hobbit Extended Edition Blu-ray?

I've run into that as well. I've seen a couple copies at Walmart, but not many.

Same problem for me. Wal-Mart had it for less than a week for $39.96 and I wasn't about to pay that. Amazon still wants $39.99, but I refuse to pay more than $29.99 for it.

Barnes and Nobles has coupons? Oh, that's right you have to pay for them with that ripoff yearly membership.

Actually they have several non-member coupons as well. I just used a 40% off coupon the other day in fact, and a 20% one 2 weeks before.. Also, try telling avid Criterion collectors that the membership is a ripoff. You'll be laughed right out of the thread.

I get more 20 percent off coupons from Barnes and Noble than I ever did from Best Buy.

Except that IMHO most Criterion films are extremely boring and overrated. Most of them are just for the artsy-fartsy crowd.

The problem with that logic is that B & N is at least 20% higher than Best Buy.

But it's even higher at Best Buy, All of their new releases are always marked to near full price.

Your humble opinion is quite misinformed, and also shows that you don't know much about cinema.

It's actually quite comical too since there are several titles you own that could just as easily fit in Criterion's catalog...How embarrassing for you.
