The Bourne Legacy (2012)
No more of that f*cking shaky cam sh*t. No Damon either, just numerous name-drops and pictures. Never bought Matt Damon as an action star, but Jeremy Renner proves here that he IS an action star and a legitimate badass, convincingly pulling off Bourne stuff better than the real Bourne. Works better as a stand-alone film. Despite featuring many references to previous plot points, this is Bourne in name only. Story may have turned a bit fantastical, but the film is fun and thrilling enough for such to be overlooked. Fans will likely take issue though. Renner and Weisz have great chemistry, something that was lacking in the first three films. Plus points for making Weisz a strong female character and not a damsel in distress. Norton is wasted here as he is not given enough material, tasked to play what seems to be a cliched, one-dimensional character. The two main action sequences (the house scene and the Manila chase scene) are exhilarating. Ending leaves you wanting more (perhaps a Damon-Renner collab next time around?). The most fun installment in the series. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by jvince; 07-21-2012 at 11:06 AM. |

The Dark Knight Rises
Director: Christopher Nolan Writer: Nolan Brothers Starring: Christian Bale, Tom Hardy. "You Punishment Must Be More Severe" Well well well, im going to try to keep this as simple as possible, Nolan is a GENIUS, he knows how to grab the attention of intelligent minds and not so gifted minds lol. The movie is just pure awesome, you get the same feel from the 2 prior movies but this one has a little harder kick BANE. Bane is pure evil and Tom Hardy does an EXCELLENT JOB!!!! I mean i was blown away, the acting was amazing!!!!! The story was great as well. Its hard to make 3 movies and be successful, meaning keeping the audience's attention but this movie has did it. I know the next question is which is better. Right now im going off of the pure hype of watching the movie, what i can say though, is the movie is up to par with the other batman movies if not better. In addition Tom Hardy's "Bane" puts the Joker to SLEEP. Everyone's fear about this movie was can you out do the "JOKER" well im saying YES he did just that. MUST OWN FIRST DAY BUY! |

Once (2006)
Irish busker/vacuum repairman meets Czech flower seller/single mother and together they start singing catchy tunes. Not your typical musical where characters randomly burst into song and dance. Shot in just 17 days for a mere €130,000 (about $150,000), grossed nearly $21 million, won an Oscar, and is now a Tony Award-winning Broadway musical. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by jvince; 08-17-2012 at 10:09 AM. |

The Devils Double
2011 / R / Based on a true story. Saddam Hussein had a son named Uday Saddam Hussein. Uday was a sick, twisted, evil, bipolar freak with unlimited cash at his disposal. Due to assasination attempts, Uday decides that he needs a body double for certain public appearences. Latif Yahia, a regular Joe, was forced against his will, under threat of harm to his family, to accept the assignment of being Udays body double. The film follows Latifs struggle of living with, and working for, a complete MADMAN, and, his desire to escape. I didnt know this before seeing the film, but Dominic Cooper plays BOTH roles, Uday and Latif, and his performance is absolutely remarkable. He is a male Meryl Streep in this role. Incredible. The visual effects techniques employed in order to have both characters appear on screen simultaneously are mindbogglingly good. I never knew I was being fooled until I watched the bonus features. Directing, pacing, camera work and editing are damn good. I cant give it five stars, but I enjoyed it as much as a five star film, if you know what I mean. PQ and AQ are awesome on the Blu-ray. Fascinating and strongly recommended. Last edited by SquidPuppet; 07-22-2012 at 06:40 PM. |

Just purchased tickets for Tuesday to see this in an IMAX 15/70 theater! I went to the Friday morning 12:01am at my local LIEMAX (Digital IMAX) theater which was fun but I want to experience it in 70mm with a much larger screen.

After being wowed by The Dark Knight Rises, i had to put in The Dark Knight. After viewing this movie for like the 10th time it still holds it own. Christopher Nolan is a great director and i have so much respect for him. He just a great director and he shows you this when he turns a comic book into reality. Now everyone is trying to follow suit making the future comic book movies "dark". I cant wait for Superman, i know he just produced it but maybe he'll put his insight in it. This is how i rate Nolan's films so far.
Insomnia 4/5 Memento 5/5 Inception 5/5 The Prestige 5/5 Batman Begins 5/5 The Dark Knight 5/5 The Dark Knight Rises 5/5 If this isnt solid then i guess im just an idiot. The man needs an oscar. His vision is amazing. |

I'm very stingy when it comes to giving five stars, but this is one of those few films that come pretty close in my book.

Memento - 5/5 Inception - 5/5 The Dark Knight - 4.5/5 The Prestige - 4/5 Batman Begins - 4/5 Following - 4/5 Insomnia - 4/5 The Dark Knight Rises - 3.5/5 |

Batman Begins (2005)
The second best Nolan Batman film. Watching this again only makes me more disappointed with TDKR. It's almost as if they didn't bother to revisit what they've established and recapture what made this and TDK great films. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

![]() I'll have to do more reading into that theory. Didn't even think about it being applying it to this film. I did get my hands on the Three Colors trilogy so I do plan on watching those in the near future. I'm also going to try and see The Decalogue as well. |
