Not dismissing the previous titles Hammer have released in this range, but the announcements that have caught my eye have been for Blood Orange and The Man in Black (reading in detail the news article here for the latter, it reminded me of Powerhouse's Whistler boxset (the mention of the radio plays).

Agreed. There's nothing "landmark" about THE MUMMY, whereas there are definitely landmark things about CURSE OF FRANKENSTEIN. The only fly in the ointment is that Warner holds U.S. rights, so Hammer would probably have to work out some kind of deal with them in order for a release to happen stateside.

I suppose everything these days is designed to appeal to the resale market and their limited status is more important than their aesthetic. |

Haven’t Warner Archive taken the BFI’s 4K restoration of Get Carter and are shortly putting out themselves in the US. They also did same with Second Sight and The Hitcher. Hammer already working with a US studio given their deal with Paramount although coming out via VS over there. First title next year. |

If that’s the case, then Frankenstein and the Monster From Hell (1974) could be the “landmark” title, as that’s Paramount here in the US. And the Second Sight release is OOP in the UK.

Blood Orange has arrived in a bog standard cardboard box with Hammer tape around it, not a bespoke Blood Orange one.

I hope the next giant super deluxe box with fat book isn't again just an all-black box with the title on it. The slimmer volumes show more variety with cover art.

I thought the boxes with the film name on were only for the big box releases like Quatermass. The smaller releases like Blood Orange always came in generic rather than film specific boxes.

And I think the special box is only if your order contains only the one film? I don't recall having a special box for Quatermass II, which I ordered together with two older releases.

I'm talking about the box set itself, not about the packaging boxes they get shipped in.

I think the DEs are all intended to be all-black outer boxes, with the actual cover art displayed on the inner slipbox?
