That was actually my auction. I wound up acquiring a second set of the show, so I decided to give my originals a new home.

Aha another Oppo owner, got to love these machines

Have also the latest firmware release of November last year, but reading the change log for this there was indeed a fix for fast disappearing subtitles, but they only mention it was for Shout! Factory titles.

In fact yesterday evening, after my post here, i've also send an email to Oppo Europe (have the EU region-free version of the BDP-93) and here is the answer i got back from them;

Dear Stefaan

We are aware of this disc compatibility issue and are working to solve it in future firmware.

Best Regards
Bjorn
OPPO European Support Engineer

So they are aware there are problems with NISA titles too. I saw it on Fusé: Memoirs of a Warrior and Eccentric Family but haven't checked the other titles yet that i have.

Hope there's a fix soon for this.

BTW, very nice Mardock Scramble haul you got there.

And thanks for the info on the Oppo firmware, Stefaan - I guess I had better go check both my Flowers of Evil and Fusé Blu-rays, then... For Flowers of Evil, not only were there quick-disappearing subs, but I'd say about 20% of them didn't even pop up on the screen at all - made for a confusing watch - especially with that title, lol...

I started buying the release here in Australia which came with a box to house the standard four releases and i was two volumes in before I realised the nice Aniplex US editions. If I realised from the beginning I would have started with the Aniplex US sets since they are one of the few rare ones that included the Japanese audio commentaries.

Here is a shot of the Australian edition -

This week's stuff

Not anime, but it's my favorite non-anime show to watch. Besides, it's a Discotek release, I'd say it's relevant!

Never got into the Persona series, which I'm grateful being an Aniplex release. Already wasting to much money on Kill La Kill and the upcoming Gundam Origin blu-ray release.

With the current sale I ordered the first two manga volumes of Gundam Origin. They look real nice in the picture, but are they real nice when you actually get to hold them?

Those Japanese Ghibli blu-rays are beautiful. I've already got a dozen or so but I don't think I'll get any more, maybe if the new Discotek release of Cagliostro has a disappointing transfer I may get the Japanese release. When I started buying them I didn't think we'd be getting English friendly releases in the UK or US. I'm also disappointed with the lack of decent extras in the last few releases.

Any fans of the Anime Encyclopidia books? I was gonna get the new edition but it's going to cost me around $100 before I get it here in Australia. What I resulted to was a digital version which only cost me $10. It's not as nice as having the book in my hands but it will have to do until a softcover version is released.

My recent purchases from Rightstuf and Amazon JP. I was very happy to snag a copy of Gundam Unicorn Vol.6 Limited Edition BD for only $50. -

Very Nice. Someone's a happy camper!

I assume no English subs on the Doraemon set?

If I could get off my butt and learn Japanese I would be a little happier.

GwG, regarding the subs, yes noticed this too. When in a talkative scene, the first sub appeared OK and then the second never popped up, then the third appeared again but the fourth never showed up or disappeared very quickly.
In the case of Fusé it especially happened for shorter subs, if i remember correctly.

Anyways i've received the following today.

Not interested in posting here anymore (as I'm mainly collecting Manga), but can't pass up posting this seeing as it's complete.

According to the Amazon listing, it is just Japanese subs, unfortunately. (The other Doraemon movies have been Japanese only as well.)

I'll check the actual package/disc make sure when I get the chance, and let you know on the off-chance that I find out otherwise.

I don't trust Amzon with details about anime. I ordered Death Note today, Amazon only lists Japanese as the language, but I know it has English too. I was holding out on hopes of a Blu-ray release, but I'm starting to think that will never happened, so I took the plunge and bought the DVD. I'll post pics when it comes next week.
