I thought disc sales were going to struggle to reach 1 billion according to a certain member? We are already well over 900 million with two and a half months left.

Combined 4K Blu-ray and 2K Blu-ray sales was 50.5% versus 49.4% for DVD. Another week that the Blu-ray format won.

939 Million to date so far this year!

I hope someday Physical Media makes enough profit to cover streaming media losses.

It's not a fair fight though...

"Disney-owned streaming services (Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu) lost $1.05 billion in the 2023 first quarter after losing $1.5 billion in the previous quarter. The Comcast-owned Peacock lost $2.5 billion in 2022 and expects to lose as much as $3 billion this year. Paramount’s streaming services (Pluto, Paramount Plus) lost $511 million in the 2023 first quarter after losing $575 million in the 2022 fourth quarter."

I feel so bad about this lost money I can't stream anything in good conscience.

Joking aside, it will be nice to see the 1 billion up in what has been a challenging year. Early next year will be a struggle with several Winter blockbusters held back.

That and people struggling with inflation/cost of living. Hitting 1b+ is actually pretty good.

For sure, it’s probably going to end at around 1.2-1.3 billion as we still have Black Friday to come.
