Was supposed to go Thursday night, but I have tickets to a concert, so a Saturday matinee it is. Anyway, this is where I bid the thread adieu...for the folks that still like MCU movies, enjoy!

I still like the good ones when they release one. This looks to be one of those.

The Corman produced and unreleased Fantastic Four reminds me of the Turtles 1st movie live-action. With how Thing was animatronic for his face and mouth movements. That was well done for a low budget film. The movie and story really could've used better pacing though.

I've been searching for the Trank F4 movie on free to watch channels, but nothing so far. That's why if I can find the DVD for $5, it'll be worth checking out that way at least. Like the price of a DVD rental years ago.

The Thing, in the Fantastic Four 1980s comic book, was the reason I looked at the comic book back then in my youth. If he wasn't in it, I skipped the pages until he was. Or when the others showed their abilities, then it was more interesting. I only had that one comic book of them and lost it in the years since.

Pre-Guardians Galaxy. Is that because of all of the humor being added more often? I can understand how that can affect the tone.
With this new one though, I wonder as the trailers didn't get me laughing in any of the scenes, which seem more serious other than that kitchen cooking scene.

As a general fan of Marvel, I'll check this one out as it looks like it could be fun potentially with the 3D. Plus the Thing should be good, along with Galactus stomping the city like Godzilla and how this team will stop him or not.

The third reboot sucked because of the changes to cast and that idiotic backstory.

I bought the DVD for a quarter a few weeks ago, incredible cover. As good as some of the Marvel films that were released from Iron Man to Endgame.
For a quarter, good deal. I still haven't seen the Trank directed Fantastic Four movie that got him canned from the industry pretty much. I heard the guy couldn't handle the pressure of all the gears turning on the set and people watching every move. I remember reading about the controversy which seemed like a few years ago.

I'll try to rewatch the first two if possible before this weekend debut F4 3D film.

Lack of stand out action is one of the surprising things I have read so far.

Yeah, it was a ridiculous movie, but when the box office soared, I just got a sinking feeling that everything just changed in Marvel-land. The only serious toned movie after that was the Eternals which would have been great if they would have cut the stupid all male family. I'll keep my eyes on my favorite reviewers for this one and if it clears, I'll get the Japanese 3D.

Sounds like it’s a solid if unspectacular film. But I’m definitely onboard.

I didn’t want to look for my Blu-ray so for a quarter it was worth it. The artwork also is great.

I wish I had bought the 2 films when they were $4.99 on iTunes/vudu. Will buy them next time since having digital can be really convenient.

Regardless of my opinion on any superhero movie, I buy them and collect them even Thor L&T and Madame Web! It’s my new version of comic books. Glad to have them back in my life.

Saw IGN say something like it's too much like a comic book. And?.... Isn't that what we want? Like Superman 2025 was extremely comic book silly and that's why I loved it. If that's also the case with FF, then **** yeah, bring on comic booky goodness.

With coupon/discounts, I can see this for $2 in the theater. I just can't stand Pedro Pascal, and the trailers turned me off (for numerous reasons).

Yet, I love the FF and was trying to find reasons to convince myself for giving this movie a try. And, ironically, the reasons people praise this film from the advanced screenings are the exact reasons that convinced me not to see it. It sounds like a big budget CGI fest, focusing on beautiful imagery and SFX over plot, short on action, and yet another movie with a political/social agenda. Again, obviously I haven't seen this and only going by what I have read so far. But that is enough for me to avoid this.

For those who enjoy that kind of movie, then it sounds like you might like it.

A buddy of mine was really happy with the movie. The biggest takeaway from him is this is the Galactus we should've got 18 years ago. Marvel Studios did him right.

I was thinking it can't have much action based on the trailers, as they didn't show much going on for action. So I'm thinking either they're holding back from showing key scenes, or it's mostly a movie about developing this family of four.

The Chris Evans/Alba Fantastic Four films have a similar style of building their relationships, but not much going on with the action IMO till later on. I'll rewatch them soon though to see again.

Guardians of the Galaxy was over the top with the humor, although I really enjoyed those movies as we have a talking racoon as part of the team. Much like Ant-Man, some movies do need humor to work well and sell the concept.

But I hear what you're saying in how that may have affected Marvel films since then. Thor 3 was over the top too, but Thor 4 went way too far with things, turning into a Looney Tunes cartoon but with live-action people IMO.

The 3D trailer 2 looked very good for 3D. Medium to some potential strong 3D. That will also get me into the theater.

Thanks. I haven't seen Madame Web yet. It is pretty cool that we're getting a nice run of action comic book themed super hero movies for the past 20 years now+.

I'm really not surprised.

The trailers were terrible for this, and it was only the extended scene clips that really sold me. The tenor of those, combined with the absence of a multiplicity of CG action mayhem (or the same few shots used over and over in all the marketing) led me to expect this will be more of an old-fashioned type of adventure story.
Adventure doesn't mean non-stop, or over-the-top CG action set pieces every ten to fifteen minutes. It's more along the lines of the thrill of discovery; being caught in a heightened state of peril or being presented with a fantastical, larger than life problem, and lengths taken to solve it.
Superman, which I did enjoy, struck me as an episodic series of mini-destinations. All these mini episodes all culminating in a flurry of CG characters pummeling each other.
FF I expect to be more like one long journey to one particular destination/outcome.
The enjoyment is going to be in the twists and turns that journey takes, and the visual spectacles along the way.

I could be wrong, but that's my expectation.

Got my bucket and cup. Employee asked which topper that I wanted, so I selected Sue Storm.

Good quality bucket, cup and topper. I got Starry again for my drink.
