check this out guys, I almost feel stupid for revealing this but here we go anyhow....since ive been in the habbit of listening to music (often i'll watch "soundstage" on cable where this is some great live performances) so in the process of breaking in my RC's music plays constantly. Ive noticed the sound has really gotten good and dialed in with the punchyness of the woofers i was worried the bass would never "come around". So since i have an 11 month old girl who is a terror around my place so I have never romoved my grills from my speakers while they play..Well I have a new word for these "grills", well lets just call them "muzzles" because man thats exactly what they were doing...acting like a baffle. So guess what, I removed those muzzles only to reveal those hidden "highs!" Dam and what do you know, the highs where their all along and they sound great, it was like someone removed a piece of tape from the tweeter, man i feel stupid...but ive got to tell you all, these grills do a diservice to these speakers. So i raised the teleskoping stands a bit so my daughter cant touch the woofers and am running them muzzle-free. Any of you guys experience such a thing??

dude if I were you id spring for the "reference" line of Energy, the RC's. Amazon is selling the RC-50's for like $650 a pair...and the RC-10 are cheaper than the CB-20's right now for $299. And if you get the Amazon card its no interenst for probably 6 months but you'll have to check those details..

Well I'm one of them who believes grills come in the way of sound but it's not as bad with my C-series even tho I remove them since I love the look and sound.

FYI some Speakers will have tweeter that tones down during break in like the new CF-seems to be like that. But the RC and old Conoisseur like mines seem to open up during break in, the dialog is bad in a movie during break in.

FYI Vince Bruzzese, owner and chief designer of Totem Acoustics does not believe in grills, and thats exactly why they are optional on his speaker, course he understands that people have kids and stuff which is why he's offering them.

So Pat you're in for a new set of RC-30?

Statikcat, I think Pat just got a point here those are tremendous value for the money and they are a step up over the CF /CB series altho the LCR and RC-R are quite expensive to match those towers right now but you sure can use RC-10 as surrounds as Pat suggested.

we will see how the Paradigm v6 minimonitors do when they get here, if they can't beat the sound of my RC's then ill continue spending with the Energy line....but man you guys got my thinking about those dynamic Totems! I could sell the RC's and the Paradigms for some rainmakers!!! Dam i think ive got problems...

How much better is the RC50 over the CF70? In what ways?

If I bought the RC from Amazon I don't even know where to buy the center unless I get the mini RC. I like the CF look better with the front surface and I can't audition the RC. But paying 350$ (RC50) for a speaker that is better than the 425$ (RC70) I may be dropping on the CF seems like a no brainer. Then again I was planning on putting this on my Best Buy no interest/payments. This just got more complicated

Yeah I guess since you have no interest and no payment for a while with Best Buy you might as well go with the CF in this case with the CC-10.

The RC Drivers a superior, the overal cabinet construction is better, uses a real wood veneer and the speaker is even more linear and mid somewhat smoother, they also extend lower and provide greater details. Now the CF is an improvement over the previous Conoisseurs.

Here. They have he RC-50 for 700$ a pair and you could wait for the LCR to go on sale as they will soon be discontinued, if it's like the old Conoisseur should be around December.

http://www.wwstereo.com/website/ecom...%20BLACK%20ASH

Both speakers are great buys but look it still might end up costing you less at the end with the CF and no chance of running out of stock.

If you want a little brighter but the summum in details with great dynamics and fast accurate mids well the Rainmaker is a winner. Don't forget the rest of your components but your HK354 is sure to be warm and musical enough, also quite dynamic to make those Rainmakers Sing.

Wow I love the look in Cherry

Man that's a good price. RC30 for 225$ or RC50 350$ w free ship from Amazon is an amazing deal. I might have to skip Best Buy and order online. Would you consider even the RC30 better than the CF70?

I am really tempted to just order the RC50 on Amazon and grab the mini rc center until I can afford the better one. This will total 975. This is cheaper than the CF70s + CC10 from Best Buy and much better speakers it seems. I loose the financing but I can swing it either way. Wow I am kinda getting excited. This is a great deal. Gonna sleep on it .. but will probably pull the trigger tomorrow!

Well it all depends the way you look at it but at 400$ it's hell of a deal as they retailed at 1300-1500$ range.

Let me just say that now it depends in what way you look at it and a speaker is only as good as your ears will tell you.

You may not find such big difference in sound but if you want more bass the bigger drivers in the CF-70 will certaily help and may you get a wider soundstage but all in all the sound of the RC-30 is somewhat more refined. I would defenately choose the RC-30 over the CF-50, now compared to the CF-70 I would have to reaudition them both but it would be a tough call. Is the room you are trying to fill really large?

If so CF-70 is a winner but if you have a standard 12x15 the RC-30 is the way to go in my book.

Justin RC-10 RC-30 an RC-50 are all gone off the shelves about 3 months ago here in Canada. I really expect RC-70 LCR and RC-R to go on clearence by december. like they pretty much did at the end of 2008 with the C-Series.

I have heard the RC-10 back to back against the CF-70 and while the 70s had deeper, harder-hitting bass, the 10s were better in every other way. IMO they had smoother highs and a more detailed midrange.

I haven't heard the RC-10s and 30s next to each other, but I've heard them separately and I think the 30s would hold their own just fine against the bigger CF-70s.

They look better too.

I take them anyday over my C-500 but you see I'm really leaning towards that Rainmaker or the Sttaf.

The RC-10 and RC-70 seem to be gone from most online retailer as well. You can still find the LCR, RC-30, 50, and RC-R though.

I was (still am at these prices) tempted to go with the RC series, but I really wanted the 70s and their dedicated midrange driver. They seem to be gone everywhere though (except Amazon where they are still being sold close to MSRP).

Yup but the RC-50 is a nice 2.5 way and don't get me wrong they will put to shame alot of speakers and for 350 each at WWstereo it's steal

Just come to Canada we still have some in store

So I've noticed.

I still want to hear Totem and Dynaudio before making any decisions, but at these prices (and their level of performance) the RC series is hard to ignore.

I take it you've heard the 50s then? If so, were you able to compare them to the 30s?

If I drove to Canada, I'm pretty sure most of my savings would have to be put towards gas money.

I wonder why the RC50 is only 2 way while the CF70 is 3 way with 1 extra speaker. I guess that is just a testament to the quality of components in the RC series.

So if I buy the RC50s tomorrow should I get the RC Mini center over the CC10? I know the CC10 is in the CF series but it might be a little better center in general? I am kind of picky about center channels and I have only heard the CC10. I am big on dialog quality. That's one thing I really love about my Infinity set. The towers could use some extra bass and mid range clarity but the center channel delivers excellent (3 way w 5 speakers). So I can't help being a little cautious going to a center that is 2 way and 3 speakers. I guess like what I said above... quality of components I'm sure make up for this.

Well Comparaison between the 2 Hmmm, they just go deeper and reproduce the mids and Bass with even better accuracy due to the bigger drivers all in all very close but they will fill a bigger room of course.

It's a typical RC sound sort of like compairing the RC-30 and the RC-10, the RC-50 just bring everything a step ahead but obviously nothing mind blowing compare to the smaller RC-30.

At this price point you just can't go wrong but I get ya what if you want the other step up what a dilemma that will be for ya.
