Condolences to you also. My dad passed away fairly young. I'm actually older now than he was when he passed. It's a sobering reality.

I missed this somehow...so sorry to hear this. Losing a parent is never easy. You have my condolences.

I've been home for four days now and I'm starting to miss my parents. It was only the second time I've seen them since March of 2020. They used to live about 2.5 hours away and now they live over 2,500 miles away. I hope I don't have to wait another year to see them.

And now it's about time for bed. Tuesday night is my second day off but I said I'd come in and work an OT shift so gotta get some more rest.

Someone once told me the following, and I remind myself whenever I feel I am losing perspective:

A man gives Frank $5 and Bob $5. Both are happy for their luck having been given this money and both start to think about how they are going to spend it. However, the same man gives Mike $10. So now, Frank has $5, Bob has $5 dollars and Mike has $10.

Upon noticing Mike receiving $10, Bob begins to get upset that he was only given $5 and wonders why he only got $5, yet the man gave Mike $10. Mike is really happy to have $10 and Bob envies him and the things he could buy for $10. Meanwhile, Frank seems perfectly happy and content with his $5. Upon seeing Frank happy, Bob cannot understand why Frank would not be as upset as him, as they both were only given $5, but Mike got $10.

Bob asks Frank why he is not as upset as him, and Frank replies “When I got here, I had no money and now I have $5, so I am $5 richer than when I arrived.”

So, I try not to care about what others have as compared to me……I tell myself to focus on what I do have today and to appreciate it.

No intent to be dismissive about your pain, but you're in my prayers as well. My Dad passed from Alzheimer's 3 years ago, and as a Christ follower I was initially worried regarding his eternity. But then my cousin Connie (his niece) told me that her mother Sallie (his sister) had a conversation with Dad about spiritual matters, and he said he believed in Jesus. Knowing that was comforting for me, since I never got to know Dad very well in this life, but that will change for sure in Heaven.

I am very sorry about your dad. Losing a parent is one of the most painful events that we experience in this life.

Worrying about Hurricane Milton. Not the winds so much as the rain. I'm in a flood prone area on the east coast of Florida, very near to where it's tracking through my state.

I sent a pic of myself to someone on FB and I typed her reply to have it translated. I typed erea lindo which translated to "it's cute". I was like alright, I'll take it. I had made a typo though so I corrected it to eres lindo and it translated to "you're beautiful"

Did you evacuate to save your own skin?

No, I did not. Contrary to popular belief, you're generally better off sheltering in place unless you are elderly/disabled, live in a mobile home, or a REALLY flood prone area. I sat in 6-10+ hours of traffic trying to flee the state when I was younger and it was a LOT messier than staying put. I have no plans to ever try to leave unless I'm looking at a cat 4 or 5 direct hit. So I boarded up, surrounded my home with sandbags, and generally hope for the best.

As of around 11pm, I've gotten around 5-7 inches in rain. I can probably afford maybe 6-8 inches more before is starts overcoming my flood barriers and seeping into my home. That's close to what is projected overnight, so it'll be close. So far, I'm getting gusts of around 60-65 mph. Supposedly, they might reach 70-80'ish within a few hours. Not too concerned about the winds, more the flooding, which is always the biggest danger. Shockingly, I haven't lost power yet.

If all else fails, I do have my bugout bag and cages for my cats ready to wade across the street to a neighbors house that's on higher ground. Also moved all my valuables (mainly valuable video games) to high up places in my home. Have decent insurance too. My rough estimate is this is the 9th or 10th hurricane I've been through. Kinda goes with living in Florida... beautiful state, but comes with a price. We're so immune to it, we freak out a lot less that people who see this stuff in the news in other places.

TIL DNR for Amazon DSPs means did not receive, glad I have a 0% DNR so far, which is amazing considering how little experience I actually have taking people their packages.

If you're lying, we're going to fight. And really it isn't going to be much of a fight. You're going to get scared and you're going to start apologizing and telling me how sorry you are. And I'm a big softie so when I see you standing in front of me, trembling with urine running down your pants, I'm going to feel bad and then I'm going to pat you on the back and tell you it's okay and you just need to be more careful when making outlandish claims on the internet. Always make sure to double check, triple check if you have to, all of your information. Make sure you get this information from reliable sources you can trust. If you can do that much, you'll be just fine my friend

I just checked the app and I'm not seeing that deal. I'm getting pissed again...

What a lovely reply lol.

Hmm strange that you’re not seeing it. Maybe it’s only select accounts. Wabo will chime in and let us know! I thought it was for everyone considering it’s a 3-day promo.
