I like the first one. Its great. But I don't care about a single character in it. The 2011 had better scares, was super impressive recreating the first ones showing of the ruined camp, and better characters imo. Sorry if that's starting shit.
I take your opinion more seriously than the hyperbole that was thrown at the prequel.

A Bug's Life is not really good and if it had come out today, people would have said it was a "mid tier Pixar".

Luca > A Bug's Life.

95% of kids movies are stupid AF, regardless of studio. The other 5% were all made in the 80s.

Eh, I disagree. There's been some decent to good stuff.

I just think Pixar is boring now. The Incredibles 2 and Toy Story 4 were fine films but nothing more. Coco looks good.
Something like Soul should be up my alley but man does it look boring.

Animation isn't dead though. Wes Anderson is killing it was his two features. The autuers working over in Japan such as Mamoru Hosoda and Makoto Shinkai are slaying it in the anime genre.

Kids movies don’t have to be only animated movies, there can be live action kids movies.

Fair enough. I was talking Pixar before so my mind was on animation.

I'd argue that:
a) his kids movies aren't really kids movies
b) they are among his worst films
c) the fact that "hipster trash" likes them is highly appropriate

Edit: I'm not big on TS4 or The Incredibles, but I have to admit I cried a bit at the end of Coco.

I was simply asking a question. I don't mind if you believe what you wrote, I really don't. There are quite a few comments in this thread that are not honest, and are posted because the author wants to see what kind of reaction they'll get.

It was nothing personal. I apologize for upsetting you.

We need to collectively not ignore that The Thing from Another World (1951) exists, Jon Carpenter's is a remake and the 2011 one is the third film in the series.

They are ranked thusly (and this is gospel):

1982>1951>Cataract surgery>2011

It's funny that you think Wes Anderson is trendy trash. His work is popular to the point that he's working with Netflix just like another film favourite Guillermo Del Toro.

His kids movies, which they were made for that reason among others, are good. Fantastic Mr Fox gets a lot of love actually while Isle of Dogs has come around lately.

Oh, I don't. I'm a huge Wes Anderson fan, but he does have the reputation of being well regarded by hipsters. However, if I was ranking his films both of the animated ones would be in the bottom 3 or 4.

Fair enough on the rankings. But I would say that Wes Anderson is generally well loved at this point.

He's turning into the new Tim Burton. Someone with a very obvious style that might need to change it up sometime soon.

Hugo is a great kid's movie that I don't think I could ever get my kid to sit through.

Doesn't mean I don't love it to death, though.

Spies in Disguise is one of the few cgi animated movies these days that has replay value to me.

I love that Marty decided to make both a kids movie and try his hand at 3D. Never experienced the 3D element of that film but loved the hell out of his attempt to making a kids movie.

I have the 3D version!

I do not have a 3D TV.
