So basically all the critics think the opening scene is nothing short of absolutely spectacular? Great!

Ugh...just, I hope not too much. I wanted at least one serious take on the character that went for an actor's full run.

Doesn't sound like that'll happen.

I with you! I hope that gun barrel is at the very beginning of the film. I think an opening night audience pumped to see a new Bond film would break out into applause!

I thought I read where the gun barrel was at the start of the film.

It was already over with the "scratch my balls" line from Casino Royale.

Looks great but does this film have the worst case of the orange and teals anyone has ever seen? Or is it some sort of new technology that shoots in only two colours?

I agree but I think he meant influence-wise. And there's no denying Skyfall dummied Casino Royale at the box office and the awards shows.

OHMSS was filled with innuendos and side jokes by Lazenby and others.

Dalton's 007 seemed to be the most "hard-ass" or serious of all the actors playing Bond up until Craig, but even then, there were a few scattered humorous elements added in the script for both TLD and LTK that might've been out of Dalton's control. Still my favorite Bond though.

I honestly can't see Craig agreeing to slip into unabashed Moore mode. It would be jarring , especially with the tone of the story (from what I can estimate in terms of the trailer). I think there's a slight increase in one-liners in Spectre, and reviewers have jumped on it as if Craig has gone for it pun-wise, lol. Strangely enough, the Moore comparisons on the part of journalists and reviewers might be sly digs about Craig's increasing age, not sure on that though.

The clips thus far look excellent. Love the train fight and the car chase. The scene with Bellucci is great too. Classic Bond stuff, though I wish it was visually a little more colorful. The yellow/orange becomes a bit much after awhile.

I don't think that's the goal. They want to make money, but coming in at #1 isn't the primary concern, lol.

Mainly just orange/sepia, looks like a Fincher movie (with grain).

Spectre has been selling tickets for months now anyway. But that's not the point, they want to top Skyfall's opening weekend to make headlines. Skyfall's had a 3 days, Spectre will have a 7 day opening run. It's the same reasoning why films have preview weekends and open on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Heck most rediculous one was Bad Neighbours, the Seth Rogen comedy, which instead of opening on Friday, opened on Saturday and the money it made from that 9 day run was put into it's opening weekend and it went down as the biggest opening weekend for a Comedy in the UK.

That makes no sense. By that logic, they could say that Skyfall had the biggest 108 day opening ever.

Either way, I think Spectre will probably top Star Wars in the U.K. overall.

Just the way it works out in box office totals. Trust me, under two weeks time you'll have headlines saying "Spectre had the biggest opening weekend in the UK ever" or something to that degree. But when you read the articles, are large percentage of what's made will be under 'previews' from the week before. They've been doing it for decades, they've just recently become less discreet about it.

EDIT: a bit of an example

http://www.theguardian.com/film/film...urs-seth-rogen

Quote:
Storming the charts with a stonking £8.45m, Bad Neighbours confirms the commercial potency of an appealingly assembled raucous comedy. Not even the fact that a substantial £5.16m of that sum comes from a marathon six days of previews can dent the euphoria the studio must feel.

Don't read the Hollywood Reporter review if you wanna avoid spoilers, they basically confirm that the film is pulling a
[Show spoiler]John Harrison
with
[Show spoiler]Waltz's
character. Pretty obvious to figure that out anyway, but just a heads-up for those who have managed to stay in the dark.

[Show spoiler]
Quote:
We can normally measure a Bond film by the quality of its villain, and Austrian double Oscar-winner Waltz certainly gives good evil, spritzing up Oberhauser with a light fizz of mirth and mischief. But he is hampered by a script which fails to make his long-standing grudge against Bond plausible, and provides zero motives for his power-hungry schemes. His big revelation in the final half hour will come as no great shock to anyone even vaguely familiar with the early 007 films. It feels like the filmmakers have been bluffing a great poker hand for two hours before throwing down a pair of threes.

This has to be my most anticipated release of the year. I had booked the day off work so that I can trundle along with some of my mate to the local IMAX to see it the moment the release date was announced.

My only fear is that I will be able to hear the voice of Sam Smith in the opening credits, unless the producers wisely pull it so far back into the mix that it's inaudible!

I have been studiously avoiding as much news as possible so as not to hear any spoilers - I've done a good job.
